Carral Lottway

Born the son of a poor Estalian farmer, Carral's family was one of the first to settle in the newly formed province of Aedan. Relative to other humans of the time, Carral encountered many non-humans, as his family's farm served as a frequent stopover for refugees. His father allowed anyone to stop in and would feed them a meal of bread and soup in exchange for their labour.
Despite this peaceful childhood, Carral felt stifled by the fence around the farm. He had heard so many stories from the many travellers about the outside world, and he wanted nothing more but to see it all.
At 18, he left his childhood home, and set out to wander of to the horizon. It's said that Carral crossed the entire continent several times; from as far north as Kymene, to as south as Mavos and Drury. During his travels, what struck him the most was how the non-human races were treated by his fellow Estalians. He saw elves chained to the bottom of the mining pits of Brost, dwarves and halflings forced to put on gladiatorial sport against large beasts with nothing but wooden swords, and many more travesties.
To fight these injustices, Carral fell into it with a small group of Romyians, and during his time with them he was responsible for several terrorist attacks against the Estalian government. However, he was apprehended after attempting to demolish part of The Sedile using explosives. He was sentenced to life in prison for his crimes against the Estalian people.
What followed next was one of the strangest mysteries in Estalian history. Two decades into his imprisonment, the Governor of the province of Aedan passed away suddenly, and Arkanos, The Great Weaver themselves called for the appointment of Carral as their replacement. Uncertain of the reasoning, but believing it to be a part of The Grand Plan, the Senate approved his appointment and sent word for The Silver Legion to release him. However, when the Legion arrived, they found Carral's cell empty, as he had escaped the previous day. Carral evaded capture for 2 months before the Silver Legion finally convinced him of his new privileges.
Carral served as a diligent governor for a decade before, and with the support of the Poivoits of Greshia, he declared independence from Estalia and founded the kingdom of Aedan. Of which, his family still rules to this day. He is celebrated throughout Aedan, both as the founder of the kingdom, but also for his actions in support of non-human peoples.
