Some form of faster-than-light psychic emanation erupts from elsewhere in the universe. It propogates from one end of human space to the other within seventeen minutes. All psychics - those affected with MES - either died immediately or went feral. Without a trace of humanity left, the feral psychics attacked those around them and entire governments fall.   With no master teleporters, the jump gate network collapses, isolating systems from each other. Psitech becomes inert and infrastructure fails. The Silence begins.
