Occupation of Oskksul

The Conflict

Prelude

After the War of Conquest, the Empire took a few years off before turning their attention to their neighbors to the North, Occupation of Ossksul.

Deployment

Troops were ferried across the Luminous Sea to Oskksul.

Conditions

The occupation of Oskksul, while still considered a military engagement, was almost entirely without actual conflict. There was no organized military response on the part of the Oskksulians, because the native Dracanis are pacifists who will not engage in any fighting except to protect themselves or others. In fact, once negotiations began to bring the country under the Empire's banner as a Protectorate, the Empire's soldiers were shown only the most generous of hospitality.

Outcome

The Dracanis of Oskksul became citizens of the Empire. In general, as few Dracanis are interested in leaving their homes, this did not interest them or change their day-to-day lives. For those few who did want to travel abroad, it offered them some opportunity to leave Oskksul for the mainland.

Aftermath

Not much changed in the day-to-day lives of the Dracanis, but the Empire gained control of imports and exports of the goods and services that the Dracanis offered and produced, and the natural resources of Oskksul. In the interest of appearing benevolent, they have not made many demands of the Dracanis people beyond what they are willing to give, and since they do not usually wish to leave their homes, most do not realize that they are second-class citizens at best in the Empire proper as non-humans.
