Luminous Sea

The Luminous Sea is in the northern hemisphere, cradled between the Empire proper and Oskksul. It touches two countries, and two continents, making it the most limited in scope of the world's seas. It is a fairly cool sea of average salinity.

Phenomena

The Luminous Sea gets its name from the natural occurrence of bioluminescence and phosphorescence that makes it glow, brightly at night but dimly visible even during the day. Ingesting the water, especially too much or if one has not developed a tolerance for it, can cause hallucinations followed by gastrointestinal upset. Many of the creatures found in this sea are highly valued for their glowing properties, which can be harvested and made into paint or dye. It is rumored that too much physical exposure to the Luminous Sea can cause one to glow.
