Cleo was the sweetheart and later mistress of King Vadim Talat. They never married - as much Cleo's choice as Vadim's - but were close. Vadim moved Cleo into his household despite their not being married, willing to give her whatever she desired, and she was helping to raise the royal princes, her twin sons, and Vadim's ward Evren. She was the darling of the court while her lover was away fighting, and the darling of her lover when he was home.
