Order of the Fallen Gods

A splintered sect from the followers of the Death Goddess, the Order of the Fallen Gods is obsessed with the "gods" cast aside by the Goddess of Death early in her years.

Structure

The Orders first members adopted a similar system to the model used by the Holy Triumvirate, but instead decided to dedicated the three to different areas for their overall survival. The Religious Sect had supreme power, with the Defensive and Agricultural sects receiving their orders.

Culture

The Order believes that there are Gods stronger than the Divine Trinity, but that they were ambushed and defeated by the foul Goddess of trickery that was Death. The Goddess of Death had been driven from her home for slaughtering untold portions of a city, and the fools of the Empire thought themselves strong enough to kill her. They instead distracted these Gods with their reckless abandon, and the Goddess of Death used this opportunity to cast them away into a contained realm to siphon their power.

History

The Order was Founded shortly after the departure of the Goddess of Death from the Empire of Five Kings, resulting in several key members of the Holy Triumvirate leaving their positions and abandoning the Empire. Some of these people believed themselves to have knowledge of untold Gods, ones aside from Creation, Life, and Death, and that these Gods were more powerful. They Created a sect outside of the range of the Empires control and began to create a society devoted to the discovery of where these Gods may be. Arcanists, Soldiers, Knight Officers, and even Higher Nobility were among the groups dedicating small fortunes towards the goal. Near the end of 143 an Arcane Engineer of some renown was persuaded to work on the project, they weren't given any idea of what the project was to do other than reach out into another realm. The Arcane Engineer themselves had expressed much interest in the idea long before their approach and was delighted to take advantage of the opportunity. A trial was successful several generations later in 284, causing the deaths of almost everyone involved. Only a few artifacts were ever recovered from their main monastery afterwards, the halls were said to be filled with all manner of unthinkable horrors.

Disbandment

After several generations of Arcane Engineers working from both within and outside the Empire, a trial was to be held for a way to contact the Divine Gods from their banished realm. The Main Monastery was used as the grounds for the trial as it was both the largest and most detailed one the Order had yet built.
The only surviving records of the trial depict a massive circle of in their wall with rings of scripture on the edges, and creatures of pure death and darkness forcing their ways in to the while slaughtering all present. One last entry described a pool of blood spilling out of the front doors.
