The Pendant of The Fallen Gods Item in World of Arsteria | World Anvil

The Pendant of The Fallen Gods

Two brass rings bearing etchings of a language either too old or too new, contain a dot of darkness. If I look into the center my eyes are almost tricked into seeing the night sky, suns and moons dotting portions I know to be empty on regular nights. I do not fancy containing this item within the Keep or Academy. In fact, I would prefer to break the cursed thing and be back on my homeward. I swear Gweza, if you were here you would feel the same. It feels like something is pulling me towards it at all times, just being near it gives me this uneasy sense of slipping. I have nearly fallen off my horse at least a half dozen times. The rings are interesting on close inspection, though the language may take some time to decipher. It is not one recognized among the Academies Scholars, so I am certain that you must have some better idea than I. One is placed inside the other, making it possible to spin the two without either falling or losing positions. The Dot of darkness never moves either. -Kowazeki, Battle Mage

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Two rings are set within each other and are, if unobstructed, rotating on a persistent but slow spin. Two bars act as locking points for the rotation, but they taper off as they approach the single dot of darkness. The central piece, the aforementioned single dot of darkness, seems to have to no anchors to the pendant as a whole.

Significance

The religion of the Fallen Gods states that the pendant contains the secret to returning the gods to their rightful world.

Love the concept behind this, especially the sense of vertigo the quote mentions.
