Situation Overview

On arriving on the planet, everyone finds there is a planet-wide disruption preventing long-range communication from functioning properly. The Harbingers make an attempt to secure part of the capitol to get a foothold on the planet, but Priam Company stepped in to dispute their presence. Whomever can control the field of battle will be able to push the other out.

The objectives of each force are to control the three target buildings: the Control Center for the city division and two Power Relay Stations. Controlling the objectives gives 1 point for each Power Relay Station, and 2 points for the Control Center. Once a side has accumulated 20 points, or they force half the enemy force to withdraw, they may claim victory.

Place the Control Center in the center of the battlefield, and the Power Relay stations roughly one third of the distance inwards across the board from starting edges. There are also eight Building Group elements which are placed around the map. Priam Company deploys on any edge they start, while the Harbingers deploy on the opposite edge.

Special Rules

Forced Withdrawal: When certain conditions are met, a unit must withdraw towards its home edge and may only engage targets in range during the withdrawal. These conditions are as follows:
  • If a BattleMech expends all their ammunition and has no more available weapons.
  • If a BattleMech loses one side torso location due to damage.
  • If a BattleMech sustains internal damage in two torso locations or three limb locations.
  • If a BattleMech suffers two Engine hits or one Engine hit and one Gyro hit.
  • If a BattleMech is rendered immobile or otherwise unable to escape the battlefield.

Objective Control: To control an objective point, a side must have a unit within 2 hexes of that point and have no opposing units closer to the point than them.

Battle Report

"Harbingers, heads up. Targets coming in, and we have more than enough to take them on. Focus on the control center and let's take the city." The Atlas moved forward, the Cataphract keeping pace. The two Hatchetmen off to the left, the Awesome and the third Hatchetman to the right. This would work.
While the other side was watching the approach, and the pilot of the BattleMaster glanced to his sensors before speaking to the unit. "Priam Company, I don't recognize who these people are, but I know they're not supposed to be here. Sagittarius Four, take Pegasus One and Four and keep an eye out for flankers. Everyone else, that Atlas is the key to it. Take it down and we should be able to push them out."

Turn 1

(Image Link)
It began with the Orion and BattleMaster moving straight ahead as the Warhammer falling in behind them to give long-range support. The Griffin, Valkyrie and Wolfhound all moved to take the Relay Station and found no resistance trying to stop them from the other side. The Harbingers had two Hatchetmen move to take their closer Relay Station as the bulk of their forces moved ahead towards the Control Center.

Turn 2

With the forces now moving to engage directly, the Warhammer remained further back to pick clear targets, while the Wolfhound and BattleMaster moved for the Control Center. The Griffin likewise maneuvered to engage on that flank, firing towards the Hatchetman to discourage it from staying put. The Orion exchanged fire with the Awesome and Atlas, taking damage in the leg while splashing several missiles across the Atlas' torso.

Turn 3

Fighting grew more dangerous, as the Atlas swings around one side of the Control Center and the Awesome moved around the other. The Hatchetman and Wolfhound squared off while the Warhammer and BattleMaster focused fire on the Atlas now, and the Orion attempted to segregate the Hatchetman from the fight. An Autocannon/20 shot from the Atlas punched through the torso of the BattleMaster and damaged the engine, while the Atlas' torso armor started likewise to show gaps. The Cataphract managed to also land damaging shots into the BattleMaster, making it uncomfortable to stay there much longer.

Turn 4

(Image Link)
The battle heats up as the Orion and Warhammer move up to take pressure off the BattleMaster and force the Atlas to stumble and fall from the damage. In an attempt to distract the Orion, the Hatchetman attempts to drop onto it in a Death From Above Maneuver. The Awesome and Hatchetman near the Control Center are engaged by the Priam Company forces, the BattleMaster and Wolfhound pushing hard to fight off the other Assault BattleMech. Both sides are waiting for the other to blink, waiting for the battle to change in someone's favor.

Turn 5

(Image Link)
It ended with a brief maneuvering ploy, as the Orion rounded one of the structures and its Autocannon/10 sheared through the head of the Hatchetman holding the Power Relay. Furthermore, the Atlas staggered to its feet in time to find the Wolfhound and Warhammer pounding it further, and the Awesome was being boxed in between the Griffin and the BattleMaster still. Despite the Harbingers still having a fighting chance to win, they had now lost the edge they needed and now began to withdraw carefully.

Following the battle and the collateral damage done to the residential areas of the Third Ward, Priam Company withdraws to move their forces and DropShips elsewhere away from civilians. The Harbingers make for one of the other continents, hoping they can fully recover before a second attack comes.
