Priam Company
Overview
Priam Company is a mercenary outfit, commanded by Mikell Sethan and started shortly after the Fourth Succession War began. Despite being called 'Priam Company', they began as a mere lance of BattleMechs and reached a size of only two lances (a light scouting lance and a heavier battle lance) before deploying to White Reach. After their extended contract there ended, the outfit would be commanded by Olivia Garrido, and their forces had expanded to a much greater size and had an experienced officer cadre.History
Early Operations
There are only a few things widely known about what Priam Company was up to before White Reach. They are based out of Twycross in the Lyran Commonwealth, and picked up the majority of their membership from former members of the Commonwealth's Armed Forces. Before White Reach, they held a good standing with the Mercenary Review Board, and maintained a reputation for being effective if not experienced. The only major contract which Priam Company was known to handle was a pirate hunt on the planet of Anywhere, lasting for five months before being wrapped up. Even so, it took them almost a full year before they redeployed to their new contract on White Reach.White Reach Operations
(See also:The White Reach Incident )Priam Company arrived on White Reach in the August of 3031, and almost immediately engaged an unknown force of BattleMechs in the Third Ward. While negotiating with the planetary government, they were attacked again by unknown forces and repelled them before they could enter the capitol's city limits. Attempts to track down their base of operations failed, and as such Priam Company took the opportunity to instead investigate the situation preventing effective communications beyond short-range radio and comm usage. Later that year, Priam Company scouted out an area of the Lucent continent known as Grendich Downs on the suspicion the source of the interference was there. They discovered a base of unknown origin, and two lances of BattleMechs belonging to an also-unknown force. After a vicious battle, the base ended up functionally destroyed and the opponents withdrew and allowed Priam Company to retrieve their equipment and personnel. Following this, permission was finally granted for Minos Firebase to be constructed outside the capitol and starport. It took several months to recover and rebuild their forces, during which they acquired combat vehicles and reacquired a Wolfhound to replace one they lost at Grendich Downs.
As 3032 opened up, Priam Company had begun to consolidate their position and started scouting across the Pelea continent and city of White Reach. On these scouting trips, they engaged with the Fourth Legion of Vega and sustained serious damage to their 'Mechs while also acquiring salvage. Commander Sethan organized an effort to put another base of operations on Argeith Island while setting up methods to keep aware of any movement by the Fourth Legion around the capital city. These preparations were useful when a force of Combine troops attempted to destroy Minos Firebase, leaving operations in shambles for a time as repairs were made.
The base on Argeith Island, named 'Epirus Base', also came under fire by an element belonging to McCarron's Armored Cavalry. Following the neutralization of Priam Company's RVN-1X Raven, the other mercenaries faded back and seemed to have no intention of further causing problems. As the situation developed on Pelea concerning the Legion, Commander Sethan attempted to cut off the larger force at Antas Pass and were outmaneuvered. Damage and attrition to the planetary militia meant Priam Company was the only force capable of keeping the Combine forces from taking the capital, a fact Commander Sethan used to convince his officers to go along with a plan focusing on the Legion as the primary threat.
Another threat reared its head as Baroness Elizabeth Wallings gathered a number of mercenaries to help her push a rebellion against the senate, intending to seize control of the planet. Priam Company accepted a contract from the senate to seize Coral Cove in an attempt to stop the rebellion before it got out of hand, but failed to capture the Baroness. Between the rebels and the Legion, Priam Company found the bulk of their forces tied up and only a small force was left free to scout for their objective: Albreicht Base. On chasing down an anomalous sensor reading, they were able to fight off other scouting forces to retain control.
Commander Sethan's efforts to fight the Fourth Legion reached its climax as the Combine forces made a desperate strike on the capital and took control of the governmental center. This action was short-lived as Priam Company joined the remnants of the Pelea militia to push the Legion out of the city - capturing their commander in the process. With no time to waste, Commander Sethan began transferring forces to Albreicht Base to investigate exactly what he was dealing with. Despite repelling numerous attacks in a short period of time, he became convinced his position was not defensible and set off charges in the base's depths which caused it to become inaccessible. Priam Company withdrew to a field base nearby, prepared for a final stand against the Ouroboros Sun.
However, they were approached by Lady Hechek Reisel with a proposition to strike the Sun hard and fast at three locations important to their operations. The mercenaries took on the contract, and were able to turn the tide against a foe which seemed considerably more dangerous than others. During the final assault on the Ouroboros Sun, Commander Sethan was lost and Olivia Garrido took over command of the mercenary outfit and settled their contract with Lady Reisel and Janus Templar.
