Market of Weirdness Settlement in When the Curtain has fallen | World Anvil

Market of Weirdness

As soon as one leaves the city, the Familiarity of the areas they visit tends to drop drastically. The lands become weirder, more abstract. That's why the regions outside of the city are most commonly called the Weird Wilderness. And while very dangerous, not only thanks to more unusual Spirits, and geography but also thanks to the constantly changing environment making it impossible to use maps, this place is also a source of many profits. New minerals, both from the earth and from spirits, objects never seen anywhere before, Weird fruits, and many things more, all attract those who desire money and power, not caring for their own lives.   And so, the need for a market where people could sell and buy those things started growing.

Location

The market of Weirdness has been built in the northern part of the city, far enough so that it is at the border of the city and close enough not to be under the constant influences of the low levels of Familiarity.

Architecture

The market has been built on the inside of an already existing old mall. The entrances have been reinforced so that intruders have a harder way entering, making it easier for the market's guards to take them down.   Once inside, one will notice hundreds of stalls and stands, some serving as shops, some with a second function of being homes of their owners. Those with enough resources to not be considered poor often own one of the old mall shops, now turned into houses.

Opportunity to buy anything

While the main reason to arrive here is to buy goods that come from The Wilderness, since many people trade for those goods with their own, the market quickly becomes a place where one can buy almost anything as long as they are lucky or patient enough.
