Indigo Intoxication Condition in Wasteland Of Ohm | World Anvil

Indigo Intoxication

Questionable Hobbies

This condition is something that happens primarily to the wealthy elite of Fields Union, and even then not very often. Its effects tied to repeated exposure to un-tooled indigo ontologite. This condition is why that version of the material is considered a drug, and is banned in some places.

Causes

The condition is tied directly to the un-tooled powering, or breaking of indigo ontologite. Even when tooled the material is known to give one a sense of dizziness similar to a strong buzz. This is amplified when one is exposed to the powered form of this material for extended periods of time, which primarily occurs at places called "Indigo Bars" where one pays for entry and will find themselves feeling strongly intoxicated as they enter the establishment with a person behind the bar powering a metal stand with several pieces of ontologite placed onto it. The shattering a piece of indigo ontologite is said to give a greater high.

Symptoms

This form of intoxication, or hangover is a truly horrible experience. To the point that I'm not entirely sure why people are draw this activity. Specifically the symptoms involved are as fallows.
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea
  • Upset stomach
  • A mild burning sensation across the body
  • Inability to think clearly
  • Chronic bad decision making
  • Everyone asking "How dumb do you have to be to be exposed that many times?"
  • Everyone repeating "Seriously how dumb do you have to be?"
  • Diarrhea

Treatment

As of now no medication has been discovered to treat the intoxication, however I recommend drinking plenty of water. Preferably be sure to drink water with sugar or honey mixed into it. Of course the best treatment is not be repeatedly exposed to the effects of un-tooled ontologite. If your reading this looking for a treatment, then I hate to tell you this but your brain is smooth. I'm an archaeologist, not a doctor.
