The Koulmig Pillar | Wherever I May Roam

The Koulmig Pillar

Located at the far edge of the rainforest Beast Lands, the Koulmig Pillar is a large stone pillar covered in metal sheets with carvings. It was discovered by the recent Dansitu exploration, which tracked their way through the entire rainforest and discovered the Pillar after exploring the far edge.   The pillar was discovered thanks to it reflecting sunlight. The exploration members set up camp near it and spent several weeks studying it while exploring the nearby area. They painstakingly copied all carvings on the pillar before turning back. Given the time it took the exploration to reach the pillar, we do not expect anyone to visit there again in the next decades at least.   The carvings are of typical Ork nature, including its name. Accompanying Ork Wanderers translated it as meaning 'Dove' or 'Connection'. They were observed to be surprised by the pillar's existence and the carvings on it, suggesting it holds a history that even they are not aware of. This sets it apart from other Ork findings and existing Ork settlements, where they simply stay mum and keep their secrets.

The Carvings

The carvings include repeated slightly-changed sheets, Beasts, heroic individuals, as well as what appears to be Ogres and Humans. They also include some markings that appear to represent the passing of time. While there's no way to be certain, Dansitu believes the pillar represents a meeting point of various different groups. This may have been a ritual repeated every twelve years, with each set of metal sheets being engraved during that connecting meeting.   Furthermore, the sheets seem to display several groups of mixed Folks. It displays hunts for Beasts, disasters as settlements were threatened or destroyed by special Beasts, as well as natural events such as droughts. The Beasts depicted are mostly unknown to us, though some are known to be extremely dangerous and potential country-enders.

Theories

Dansitu suspects the most recent sheets are approximately three centuries old, based on the growth of certain plants and other indicators. The oldest sheets then are estimated at five and a half century old, meaning that these groups met for multiple centuries until the pillar had finally been fully covered with their shared history.   Dansitu's theories and the carvings will be studied in more detail. If correct, this would mean that out there in the Beast Lands, there are more than just Ork folk, or at least were. Furthermore, these groups are mixed, showing an active collaboration. This is far more than we are used to right now, and makes us wonder why Orks avoid us now. Perhaps some Orks will be willing to share their insight in the future, for now all we can do is formulate theories.
