The Black Garlic Inn

The Black Garlic Inn is a restaurant located in the Middish city of Kintyria-Mors, specializing in Nurinian cuisine in the classic style of hosting guests, which is to present them with stories while they eat. It is the oldest and most successful of the entrepeneurial projects started by the eccentric Juran explorer, bard, anthropologist and all-around Renaissance man, Liam Susumu Fuffung. The restaurant is one of several attempts by Fuffung to bring the cultures on either side of the Worldscar together in harmony, despite past depradations by the Holy Juran Empire. It is so named as blackened garlic is an important and famed aspect of Nurinian cooking.

Format

Each room is equipped with its own storyteller, many of whom are versed in basic illusionism, prestigitidations and/or instrumental accompaniment to add extra flair to their narratives. Meals emulate authentic Nurinian cuisine, typified by shared plates of generously-spiced meats and tube vegetables with clay-baked flatbreads, all eaten by hand.

What is particularly unique is that the room's storyteller is the "boss" of their room: if for example the guests are being too unruly they have unquestioned authority to demand their removal (payment is done up front). Generally guests are allowed to quietly speak amongst themselves so long as they don't talk over the story, though some particularly eccentric veteran storytellers demand utter silence. Others demand audience participation, where shyness rather than boisterousness is what's discouraged. At its height on feast days, the Black Garlic Inn could be considered two dozen unique venues in one.

The Inn

The building is constructed in the traditional Nurinian guest house style, in a sort of long, flat dome with radiating private rooms on the inside. The floor plan can be closest described as looking like the cross-section of a nautilus shell, with smaller rooms fanning out into larger ones on the fatter side of the building. Rooms can host four diners at the smallest, while the topmost, undivided room can hold over fourty.
