or more generally: Demonic Settlements Image Gallery (External)Orms-by-Gorr is particularly unique in that it has no visible Moon at its core, meaning it is ether hidden within one of the city's towering, brutalist structures or perhaps hidden beneath the surface. Either way, there is no known example of a demonic city without at least one Moon so Orms-by-Gorr is still presumed to have one.
Society
Located on the far outskirts of the Near Umbra, the culture of Orms-by-Gorr is alien and poorly understood one. The demonic residents seem to find Material humanoids too unfamiliar or distasteful to bother with, as no Waking visitors have been welcome past the massive outer wall of the city-state. Giant demons vaguely resembling manta rays with human heads fly about above the city, surrounded by auras of glowing glyphwork. Perhaps they're patroling or perhaps they're doing some unimaginable demonic thing, it's difficult to know.
There is a recovered journal of one Dreamshepherd who did sneak her way in: she describes it as "mazelike" and "shockingly empty", with only the occasional, individual demon walking (or hovering, or slithering) about. The account is short as she decides to flee when spotted by what she describes as "a giant floating eyeball".
One scholar of the Knight-Sages of Tallarax theorizes that Orms-by-Gorr is merely a shadow of the real city, while the body is located elsewhere. This would help to explain the lack of any Moons in the "shadow city"'s vicinity. This may sound unusual, but "echoes" or shadows taking the shape of settlements is not uncommon in the Near Umbra, though Orms-by-Gorr is unique in its permanence. The Old Accords and Undead Slavery
Orms-by-Gorr is one of the original signatories of The Old Accords alongside Sarkoldu'un-Imathratep, which among other things agree to ban the use of sleeping and dead souls in chattel slavery. They do not engage in diplomatic relations with non-signatories, like Dis and Kloster Storkenfels.
