Xydrithlain

Overview

Xydrithlain is the Eljhi family that rules and runs the Xydrithlain Guild. While they are the major political influence and power in the guild, they are not the only family.   The guilds in Kolonne all structure themselves in their preferred way - some accepting outside influences while others do not. While the Xydrithlain family is not particularly xenophobic, there is an expectation that the main family line remain full blooded eljhi. The inheriting child, usually a daughter, frequently has a large number of children while their siblings fill out support roles in the guild. Their families are, in turn, taken care of by the Guild.

Structure

Many in the family are expected to contribute or help out in some form or fashion. Jobs are assigned, chores are managed, and no one is as trusted then those who are a blood relative. Given the nature of Guild relations in Kalonne, members of the family don't exactly have anywhere else to go where they might lead a particularly safe lifestyle.   It's either make themselves useful to the Guild or exile. A Guildless, houseless eljhi does not usually last long in Kalonne, let alone Lossul.

Culture

Loyalty is thick in the Xydrithlain family and, if it is ever questioned, such things are taken care of swiftly. There isn't a sense of fear, but certainly obligation and appreciation of their lot in life and the work that has to be put in to maintain their current luxury. With seemingly nowhere else to go and the other prominent families as enemies in the dark, Xydrithlain members are instilled a strong sense of family duty and loyalty early on so that they may be an asset to the whole once they have come of age.   While they are not expressly known for killing one another, it has happened and there's no sense of denial about it in the family. Certain members have been used as examples set as what not to do and what should happen if someone crosses a line they should not.
