Vurismos

The Vurismos is a collection of works by various priests, monks, and common folk, with a few pieces written by the Aviri, all preserved through time by persistent scribes and archivists. Over time writings are added, as writers are inspired, and important historical events are recorded, and others are removed based on internal inconsistencies, or incompatibility with more trusted sources.

Purpose

The Vurismos serves as an authoritative source of wisdom and knowledge concerning the world and the One who made it, Voskos. It contains knowledge concerning why the world is in such disarray, and what will be done to fix it, and what is required of those who reside in it. Since it establishes the moral law, it also establishes what will happen to those who disregard the law.

Public Reaction

The Vurismos is known for dividing people. Some take it very seriously, as inspired truth, while others see it as any old book of wisdom--valuable as a resource, but has no real authority over them. Some governments have banned it, burning countless manuscripts, while others have forced it on their citizenry. It has started and ended wars, established and destroyed empires, and given rise to countless cults who twist its words for their own purposes.

Sections and Subjects

The Vurismos starts with an account of how the world was created by Voskos after He made the Aviri, assigning to each of them an aspect of the world to manage on His behalf. Next there is an extensive section on all of the Aviri, how to respect them as an order and as individuals. Following this is a similarly long, though concise, section on the Arkanists, the children of the Aviri who function as helpers and representatives of their parents. The next and largest section is a conglomeration of historical accounts and was for millennia the most extensive collection of historical records in Vadra.
