Architecture

As the main hub and representative of the Pra’Viyk family, the Cathedral Basilica is elegant, expensive, and imposing. It is a white marble fortress-like building that is impossible miss in the city of Meaucy. It dominates the skyline, rising above all the other buildings in white splendor. Everything about the building and its construction is a reflection of Pra’Viyk. The purity of purpose in the white marble, their bright sense of honor and responsibility in the gold, and the monumental task tending to the vnou visibly represented by the sheer size and presence of the structure. It is meant to be imposing, larger than life – to make one feel small while they walk the golden and white halls. To feel unclean against the stark white as a reminder that everyone is to strive to be the better version of themselves. Nothing about the building and its arched architecture is soft or exactly inviting – and neither is Pra’Viyk. They are merciful guardians but they are not a charity. One is easily reminded of that when they are confronted by the sheer wealth put on display by the Cathedral Basilica.

Purpose

Pra’Viyk is a very structured family that takes in and trains all manner of applicants – many want a sense of purpose or to put good in the world – and Pra’Viyk is frequently the beacon that draws vnou. The Cathedral Basilica doubles as a place of learning and housing for those under tutelage – both for the public services branch and the more military minded Chaplain branch. Viyk teaches law and truth with a strict code of conduct, holding any that become members to their higher standard. Elevated above theatrics, drama, and any manner of deceit, Viyk represent all the good a vnou can become and strive to be. Many of their ancestors have been elevated in legend, referred to as Saints so their lessons may be passed on.
Not quite a religion
It is important to note that while vnou do not have the concept of God or belief in any sort, there is a form of religion that has been created around the Pra’Viyk Saints. No one worships them, per say, but they are used as a guide for morals and a code of ethics. Frequently embellished further emphasize the traits Pra’Viyk wants to instill in both themselves and the general populace.

Moreover, Pra’Viyk fully believe they are the representative of good for the common Vnou. They see themselves literally as the champion of the vnou who cannot speak for themselves, too weak to stand against the nobility. This has perpetuated the common vnou’s belief in Pra’Viyk Saints as something more. While Pra’Viyk does not encourage nor teach worship, they do emphasize the lessons attached to their numerous Saints.

History

At the end of the Reconstruction roughly 1800 years ago, Pra’Viyk was formed from a compilation of smaller families. It would take almost another century before these collective families would amass enough fortune, presence, and power to settle in the area that is now known as the Duchy of Marmino. This was an area of land owned by a family that would eventually become Fa of Pra’Viyk.

The Cathedral Basilica of Charitable Eldeildatur was an enormous undertaking, led by yet another family that would eventually become Fa to Pra’Viyk. Named so because of the donations of material and manual labor the Eldeildatur family provided while Pra’Viyk was establishing itself in Meaucy. While there was initially some tension between Marmino and Eldeildatur, it eventually became apparent that Viyk would take both in. It would take another two decades before the Cathedral Basilica would be complete. It had not been intended, initially, to be the sort of home base of Pra’Viyk but because of the sheer scope of the grounds that had been used, it was quickly established as the Pra’Viyk home.

It would be the Cathedral Basilica’s presence and Marmino’s devotion to Pra’Viyk that would prevent the Duchy from ever being absorbed by the larger Kingdoms and Empires that rose up around it. Untouchable because of Pra’Viyk.

"It is important to note that while vnou do not have the concept of God or belief in any sort, there is a form of religion that has been created around the Pra’Viyk Saints." This has a hint of the sinister, knowing how much power high-Shra vnou can have over the others. Love this article.
