Reconstruction

War

Overview

The Reconstruction is one of the major events in vnou history that has shaped the current culture planet wide. It has brought about the Shra and the almost complete segregation of the noble, wealthy families from the common vnou. Nearly every aspect of their society has been constructed to keep things separate and maintain an illusion of peaceful democracy over the general populace while the powerful use their high Shra to keep themselves in power.

Start Date

1247 :: Prompted by a small national conflict that slowly spiraled and eventully conusmed the majority of the most powerful mentally talented vnou on the planet.

End Date

1249 :: Brought to a bloody end by the few remaining powerful Shra. These handful are the ones that set about rebuilding vnou's culture into what it will eventually turn into - setting the foundation for the powerful families to distance themselves from the common vnou.

Prelude

Prior to the conflict, vou were a socially chaotic people frequently bent to the whim of the mentally dominate. Nations and states would undergo periods of unrest almost every generation as rulers were usurped and bloody crusades led by mentally adept vnou, throwing the weaker at their competition like fodder. It was a dark time for weaker vnou who lived in squalor, even though they vastly outnumbered the stronger. Seemingly benevelont vnou moved the populace against their competition in a large societal upheaval.

Battlefield

The onslaught took place across the planet. All the major cities were hit and entire bloodlines were eradicated. There was during a small industrial revolution, when firearms were on the cusp of being used. The death toll was devastating, the battles staged across almost all the major cities. The populace was moved and controlled by a powerful select few that were eventually overwhelmed and killed in the conflict, but it wasn't without catastrophic collateral damage.

Conditions

This was during a period of invention and prosperity for the vnou. Many of the common, or those who were not associated in any of the Noble families were raised out of poverty through the creation of factory work and mass production. It lifted many out of squalor and created a higher standard of living - right up until the conflict tore across the planet and threatened to ruin all of the tenuous progress that had been made. It wrecked cities and destroyed entire common families. The shock of much of it caused a backlash against the Nobility and a scattering away from the large cities.

Repercussions

Result

The restructuring of vnou society in the form that both benefit the most powerful vnou at the time and paved the way for their families to maintain control of the planet in the coming centuries.

The devastation wrought resulted in the abandonment of firearms production and advancement entirely. The powerful few that survived determined the damage done far outweighed any benefit so all knowledge was destroyed and lost, wiped from the memory, minds, and records of the vnou. Conflicts in the present day are on an extremely small scale, almost always between the wealthiest families, between those who are trained in blades and combat. This is done to minimalize the damage to the world and innocent/noncombatants. It's an attempt to civilize their combat and violent disagreements.

This also led to the obsessive control over the public image of the Nobility to prevent any sort of uprising against them and a large propaganda campaign to convince the vast majority of the vnou that the higher Shra don't exist. That high grades are the things of historical myth and childhood stories that just don't exist anymore, even though such things are cultivated and highly desired amongst the nobility.
