Type

Noble Bloodline, Political, Secretive

Leader

Though Myoiw does have a main bloodline, this noble bloodline is primarily controlled and protected by the Fae. Many will defer to Shpou-Myoiw out of respect but they aren’t necessarily the most influential or powerful of the Myoiw.

LAZ

MYOIW --- What is a Laz?
Good luck finding it. Most Myoiw of any import or influence have so many tattoos that their Laz is lost in it, usually on purpose. It's easier to denote a Myoiw *because* of the amount of colorful tattoos than to try and find the identifier - though that has been equally misleading - often times intentionally.

Founding Date

Officially, the Myoiw name was recognized after the Reconstruction – It was a coming together of several different groups represented by various Fae who united under the name, though they’d been largely operating as a related group beforehand.

Colors

Territory

Myoiw are spread across the planet, tucked away in secretive cities in thick forested areas, such as the Urzigeni Forest. They don’t recognize national borders and establish territory based on traditional ownership, when it benefits them, or the rule of the strongest is right. Per official records, Myoiw own very little territory.

Motto

Never bet against the Fae.
by Midjourney
Right here, right now
I put the offer out
I don’t wanna chase you down
I know you see it

You run with me
And I can cut you free
Out of the drudgery and walls you keep in
So trade that typical for something colorful
And if it’s crazy, live a little crazy
I don’t got friends, I got family
At the end of the day that’s all I need
And you know that’s what you’ll always be
No matter how long it’s been, no, I don’t got friends
I can tell the difference with my day ones
Read between the likes and the mentions
Candle in the sky for the lost ones
Need me, know you only gotta call once

Appearance

Most Myoiw feature blue or green eyes and blonde hair. There will always be variances since Myoiw is also one of the families that frequently takes in ‘common’ vnou, so there are strains or Fa within Myoiw that may have darker complexions, hair, or a different eye color. Predominantly, though, Myoiw are blonde with blue or green eyes.

Common Myoiw, or the vnou that live in their forested cities, wear loose flowing clothes with colorful patterns. They’re a casual people who would readily stand out in more modern cities with their rough-around-the-edges appearance and unique colorations. Myoiw like color. Be it in their clothes, their tattoos, their jewelry, or their hair. 'Messy' hair styles of braids, twists, dreads, rings, or twist up into a bun isn't amiss either. Function over form tends to pervade their styles. Women frequently wear longer, layered skirts and men wear patterned shirts, jackets, and hats.

The Fae are notable exceptions to some of these customary rules. Male Fae tend toward dark gray or black, torn jeans, and boots. They will almost always be decorated in a plethora of jewelry and tattoos. Fae women are more ephemeral. Lace and see through layers are prominent amongst their clothing. White or something equally pastel is used to offset their colored hair, jewelry, and make up. They are likewise heavily tattooed like their male counterparts.

About

On the surface, Myoiw doesn't appear to be a family to be taken seriously and some don't. They are scattered all over the place, in the twisted, tall forests that they cultivate to grow into dense, thick, impassible places of shadow. A Myoiw forest is both impressive and annoying to try and navigate.

They make their homes amongst the large trees their families have tended to and thus take their stake in land that isn't "officially" theirs rather seriously. Myoiw have no established borders but don't recognize any, either. They own the land they work, the forests they tend, and the caverns they explore. Telling them different is all well and good if you can get to them and even then, they'll laugh like it's a good joke. Uprooting and removing a "Myoiw" infestation has long been deemed not worth the effort.

They are some of the best tattooist in the world and many go to them for their Zi marks. The Myoiw 'honor' and show their affection for one another by adding to the tattoos.

Myoiw maintains a lot of its wealth from being paid to find certain Shra, providing surrogates, breeding low Shra, and harboring wayward family members. They’re one of the go to families when it comes to needing something done that likely doesn’t toe the law. Myoiw love breaking the rules.

They extend their services to the population at large, though it's usually more of a 'fortune telling', mystical nature. Myoiw and those associated have a hot and cold reputation for being both reliable but incredibly tricky to deal with. Never make a promise or a bet with a Myoiw.

Public Perception

Common vnou don’t see much of a distinction between Myoiw and what most know as the celebrities or politicians that other noble vnou disguise themselves as. Rather, they tend to be even more down to earth than city folk. Utterly concerned with their own lives and oblivious to the larger goings-on with the rest of the world. Myoiw are very isolationist and don’t concern themselves with what the general public might talk about or even consider common knowledge. Talking to a Myoiw from one of their forested cities is like talking to a foreigner – even if they might actually reside within the same country.

When Myoiw do make a public appearance and spectacle, it’s almost always in the form of a party or eccentric affair where strangers are invited to drink and be merry. These events are usually fronts for the Myoiw to scout out an area but not always. Sometimes, a Fae just wants to have a good time.

It is both commonly believed and good business practice to never gamble, bet, make deals, or promises with a Myoiw. Especially one considered Fae. Myoiw are sticklers about promises and games – their word is their vow and they expect the same in return. It’s considered bad luck to cross a Myoiw, especially a Fae, and only the most confident play games of chance against them. It should be noted that Myoiw are not sticklers for the truth nor are they against cheating. Just don’t get caught. It’s all about what is promised, what is said, and what are the rules of the game being played. If you cheat and win, and don’t get caught, then you just played better than your competition. For the Myoiw, nothing is off the table when it comes to gambling. Nobles have lost their entire fortunes to the Fae.

Despite this, the Myoiw and Fae are usually accepted wherever they go. They pay mind to general laws – they’re not a malicious bunch – and can usually be counted on for a good time if nothing else. Myoiw are known to be both extremely personable which makes it doubly unlucky when someone crosses them, cheats them, or does something to harm their family.

Some of the oldest rumors and myths about monsters in the deep, dark forests are tied to the Fae and Myoiw. Most modern Vnou would laugh at the idea of being led away by a Fae in the woods, but the myths exist and some of the vnou in the countryside or live close to the forest still swear by them. See The Fae in the Woods.

Organization Structure

Main Bloodline

No one outside the Myoiw could tell the difference between the Myoiw mainline and any of the Fa. It's a purely Myoiw thing. It's a convoluted, twisted family tree of who's who, and who is in the know. It all makes perfect sense to them, of course, and there is someone in the family who is keeping track of all the madness, but they're not sharing with anyone. To the outside world, it's all Myoiw and that's bad enough as it stands.

For the Myoiw, there isn't much difference between Myoiw or Fa - only when it comes to important noble governance matters or time to make big decisions does it follow a chain of command, up the shpou line. Those with the Pra’Myoiw name are usually tasked with the aggravating job of dealing with the other noble bloodlines – mostly because the noble families don’t want to deal with common vnou. Thus, the bloodline is more or less maintained for noble political reasons and little else.

Fae

The real power within Myoiw tends to be the Fae. They’re a sub-group within the Myoiw that is primarily comprised of Zmutwe level Shra who live and function within their forested cities. A couple of Fae have troupes they take out into the world, to travel and spread news. They act as branches between the various Myoiw cities since they don’t tend to rely too much on other forms of communication. Myoiw is fully aware of Drahinuaw’s stranglehold on technology and thus they tend not to have much of an interest in it. This can make the Myoiw, and Fae, in particular seem a little backwards but there’s a good reason for it.

Further Information on the Fae

Fa Families

Not even those of the main Myoiw family could say, off hand, how many Fa families fall under the Myoiw umbrella. Anyone who becomes a Fae automatically becomes the Shpou of their own family and, if they don’t have an established one, it’s made. So many Fa have been formed this way that their records tend to be a bit of a mess.

It is incredibly difficult for anyone new to become a part of the Myoiw. Just Connecting to a Myoiw doesn't make that person Myoiw, not in spirit, not really. Especially since much of what they are is an entirely separate way of life. Newcomers to the family will likely undergo a period of adjustment and, while they will be welcomed, there will always be an air of them being other or outsider. When an entire family becomes a part of the Myoiw, such as during the creation of a Fa, it's a big deal and cause for an elaborate celebration. Then, it's like they were never not family.

Geopolitical

Industry

Officially, the Myoiw function as matchmakers and headhunters for the other noble families. They are paid handsomely to scout out potential talent or new blood from the common vnou population then extract said vnou and deliver them to an agreed upon location. This headhunting is done to meet certain criteria for each different family, though almost all of them will bid on any Zmutwe that is found within the common populace. If Myoiw doesn’t opt to keep them.

While this practice could be perceived as malicious or nefarious, Myoiw almost always views it as rescuing a vnou with potential from the drudgery and boredom of a common vnou’s life. If they wanted to be extremely charitable, they are saving a powerful Shra from a later life of difficulties and possible death. Most vnou who grow up and realize that they are, indeed, far more powerful than those around and are not tempered with the knowledge of the nobility tend to overstep and become a problem for said nobility.

That is when Myoiw is expected to step in as headhunters and quell any potential problems a Connected, mature vnou of a high Shra might make. The noble families are essentially outsourcing this task since most don’t want to deal with it and, while the Myoiw might be a pain to deal with, they are secretive and never break their word. In some ways, they are more reliable than contracts made with other various Vnou assassin factions. Mostly because the Myoiw don’t really care about the politics surrounding the other families – they just like money.

Foreign Relations

Every bloodline's main focus is to take care of their people and their assets. In this, Myoiw is no different. What makes them different is the disparate and almost chaotic way that Myoiw takes care of their own. Generally, when it comes to the noble bloodlines, those of the main bloodline are considered the most important and thus the most powerful. For the Myoiw, it’s the Fae within their family that hold all the power. Luckily, all of the Fae under the Myoiw are at least concerned with keeping the Myoiw cities secretive and safe above all else.

Since the Myoiw family power structure can appear chaotic to an outsider, with most Myoiw operating independently and accountable to very few others, it makes them a difficult family to interact with or contend with when there might be problems. Only for something of the utmost importance will another noble go through the hassle of tracking down a Fae they feel like they can deal with, who then agrees to handle whatever problem they might have. Otherwise, the nobility is welcome to go through the official channel to contact one of the Shpou Myoiw on record, but that has always had mixed results in the past. From the Myoiw outright refusing to deal with an issue to being unable to given their lack of real power within the Myoiw.

When it comes to common vnou – even those that might be rich or political figures – Myoiw tend to treat them with kid gloves. It is considered rude and unsportsmanlike to toy with vnou that are ignorant to their world and the nobility. While Myoiw will never turn down an opportunity to gamble or party, they tend to treat those of common birth or ignorance to High Shra far more kinder than they would others in the know. When it comes to other noble vnou, especially ones that are closely connected to Shpou of other bloodlines, they can be downright ruthless.

Laws

The Myoiw are a law unto themselves. Governed primarily by the Fae or by the Shpou of their namesake. Myoiw cities are ruled by a council of Elders who vote on important issues, though they will frequently turn to outside authorities like the previously mentioned for assistance. Otherwise, the Myoiw don’t really have a set of laws nor do they really recognize or adhere to outside laws. When Myoiw visit other cities or locales, they consider it polite to follow whatever laws might be in the area but it’s not a requirement. All the Myoiw have their internal hierarchy and adherence to such – even if it might not outwardly appear that there is any sort of order.

Strictly speaking, other noble families will only deal with the Shpou of the family though they are aware that much of the Shra power of the Myoiw is in the Fae. It’s a matter of pride that the nobility doesn’t consider the Fae important, even if they can be troublesome when ignored.

Ethics & Intrigue

While all of the nobility play in the political intrigue of the upper class unbeknowst to the common vnou, Myoiw are almost always sitting on the sidelines. Though they are still a powerful family that must be recognized by the others, the family itself tends to stay out of politics and the businesses of other noble families. They’ve largely no interest in competing in various industries, trying to pry information out of Drahinuaw, or causing chaos for the sake of it. Rather, Myoiw profits off the other families and tends to live a more or less carefree lifestyle. They’re very live and let live when it comes to the other nobility, in general, though they’re happy to ruin them in games or bets.

Myoiw are not a violent people and, while many can be scrappy, they’ve no fighting force or anything close to a standing guard. All of their power lies in their Fae, and the power of the Shra they wield. Being crafty, cunning, charming, and a step-ahead is normal for Myoiw, and they will fight back when pressed, but they don’t have access to an armory or anything like that. They’d rather brawl it out and drink afterwards then hold any real confrontations.

In the very few, rare instances that Myoiw has been called to defend itself, they are tricky, brutal, and efficient. The Fae don’t mess around when it comes to keeping their homes safe. So long as no Myoiw lives are actually at risk, the Fae don’t tend to get involved. Fortunes won or lost is all by how well someone plays a game. But Myoiw have a well established reputation for being extremely hard to remove from an area they don’t want to leave and that comes from attempts made previous.

History

Long before the Reconstruction, during the developmental era of the vnou civilization, there was more segregation and variation in their cultures. Myoiw represents the collective tribal peoples that were spread out and largely neutral to the conflict at large. Much of the planet has been homogenized during the period of conflict before the Reconstruction and certainly more so after the fact. Myoiw consolidated under the name to better secure their place amongst the nobility and be recognized by their fellow High Shra. Though Myoiw generally has no interest in the larger politicking those other families partake in, they recognize the importance of having a seat at the table, per say.

The aftermath of the Reconstruction, saw much of the planet unified under an insular rule so they could no longer remain as separate or segregated. Though the Myoiw aren’t as concerned about blood purity as many others, they are still choosey about who they admit into their inner circle – who they call Fa and family. There is nothing more important to the Myoiw than family and in-group loyalty above all else. They just aren’t as obstinate about allowing choice common vnou to become a part of their cities or Fa. Rather, they’re always on the look out for High Shra that they can absorb in the family. Assuming that the vnou has the right personality to fit.

Part of the Reconstruction was the destruction of the individual territories and amplified the nobility's control and scope to the entire planet. Myoiw both recognize this, participate in the larger scheme, while maintaining a careful distance from the other families and whatever plans they might have for the world at large. They are a largely self-interested group that just want to make sure there’s always a place for them in this noble controlled planet.
