Subculture of Pra'Myoiw

Summary

Though the Fae are a myth told to the common vnou, they are a very real ethnicity that exist within the Myoiw. As chaotic and individualistic as the Myoiw tend to be across the planet, they are a universal across their hidden cities. The Fae are almost revered and certainly respected amongst the Myoiw as something almost otherworldly. They’re the luckiest, the prettiest, the trickiest. When an outsider frequently refers to a Myoiw, they tend to envision a Fae. Any time a noble meets a Myoiw, odds are they’re talking to a Fae.

History & Mythos

The Fae in the Woods

The Fae tend to be some of the most powerful of the Myoiw and, before the more modern era, were very much the monsters in the forests that kept other vnou away from their homes and cities. While all the stories of kidnapping tend to be exaggerated, they’re not entirely false. Fae have been known to snatch common vnou from their homes, though their targets are always those of very high Shra or Level 1 Shra. I.E. Those with a lot of power or vnou whose compatibility make them a desirable asset to the nobility at large. Fae also have a history of being the other nobility’s headhunter. One noble family will pay a Fae to harass, embarrass, or otherwise ruin another. Something they’re incredibly good at. Neither are they one to kiss and tell.

Cultural Significance

The Fae have been around for as long as the vnou have set up villages in the vast forests that dot the planet’s surface. While the Myoiw do not have what any of the nobility would consider a structured hierarchy or ranks, there is a complicated social web that has naturally placed the Fae toward the top. They’ve become the protectors and guides of the various Myoiw cities they live in, revered and loved by the Myoiw around them. Feared and met with no small amount of trepidation by the other nobility. It’s the Fae that has earned the Myoiw their less than favorable reputation amongst the other bloodlines.

But the Fae are also the reason none of the other noble families have tried to chase the Myoiw out of their territories. Younger nobles have long been warned about meetings with Fae – that they’re trickier than some of the best Blemang lawyers – and that some have lost their entire estates and fortunes to games or bets made amongst the Fae.

”Don’t bet or play any games with them. You sit at a table to play cards, you’ve already lost. The Fae don’t play fair and you’ll never figure out how they’ve cheat you – only that you’ll walk away with nothing and not be able to do a damn thing about it. You see a Fae with a hand full of rings? Run away. You’re apt to lose your fortune in a conversation.”

Code of Conduct

While there is no rules when it comes to being a Fae, there is a shared sense of responsibility for the Myoiw and their individual territories. They loosely adhere to the greater societal expectations within the Myoiw but they have a greater degree of freedom and tend to wander the world, acting as a sort of bridge between the various Myoiw communities. Sometimes they’ll travel alone but frequently they’ll have a troupe of Myoiw who will tag along that they’ll be responsible for.

For the Fae, the only rules they follow are the ones that are convenient. They don’t recognize boundaries or borders of cities, countries, or other noble families. None of that matters to them and it is incredibly rare that there is another vnou that can actually enforce any of it on them. The Fae’s high Shra and irreverent nature means they tend to come and go as they please, much to the annoyance of nearly every vnou they’ve ever interacted with.

Becoming Fae

It’s an evolutionary process for a Myoiw but the number one requirement is a High Shra. Fae need to be able to hold their own, mentally, against other vnou which is almost impossible for those of a lower grade. It is possible for a lower Shra Connected to a High Shra to become Fae – and it’s happened before. This happens when a higher Shra vnou Connects to a lower Shra who is more charismatic, adventurous, and exhibits all the other various traits a Fae might. The higher Shra then tends to take a protector role while the Fae… Does whatever they want.

Dress Code

Fae tend to dress eccentrically. Their hair is usually colored, they sport a lot of tattoos – more so than most Myoiw – and they show off their luck by wearing a lot of jewelry. Amongst the Myoiw, jewelry is always won. Thus, Fae flaunt their skills by showing off their accumulated jewelry like one would trophies. Since that’s exactly what it all is.

Women

Fae women tend to be more ephemeral. Lace and see through layers is prominent amongst their clothing. White or something equally pastel is used to offset their colored hair, jewelry, make up, etc. Flowy clothes are prominent.

Men

Fae men tend toward rougher appearances. They take on the disarming aura of vagabonds or someone seemingly unconcerned about the state of their clothes – though the layers, torn jeans, and wealth of tattoos are all a sign of who and what they are to those in the know. Certainly amongst the Myoiw. Where their female counterparts are colorful, fae men tend toward darker colors to better emphasize their spoils of victory.
