Long distance shipping

Overview

One of the most popular and widely used methods of traveling large distances, trains are a staple because there is so much land in the interior of the continents that would be otherwise inaccessible or prohibitively expensive to travel to. There are very few main major highways that connect the cities because the trains have become so prominent and popular, enabling vnou to travel large distances in relative comfort.

Travel & Shipment

Trains have been popular from before even the Reconstruction – made safe, reliable, and quick through advancements into the modern era. Most trains average around 11,000 feet in length with anywhere between 4 to 6 locomotives pulling around 300 wagons. These containers carry household goods, hazardous materials, bulk ore, and any other consumer goods that need to cross large distances. These trains are operated by Sid'Dievdhash and Zhu'Thlach, depending on the type of cargo and the countries the trains might be crossing. A couple Passenger Trains are operated by Sid'Shrie. Like most things in the world, the families have a monopoly in the industry but they outsource much of the labor and management to either Fa or common vnou, depending on the importance of the work.

Foreign Relations

Since the disaster of the Reconstruction, trade goods and supplies on the railways have largely been left alone by the nobility. It’s an untouched industry left in the hands of Dievdhash and Thlach – both of which tend to impress upon the nobility the sort of instability a lack of goods might cause amongst the common populace. This has left both families in a sort of limbo of apathy – the other families only deal with them if they have to.

The exception is Zhu'Myak, whose industry is shipping across the ocean. While there can be competition between the families, this is an almost friendly sort. Myak sailors and Thlach conductors are apt to drink, brawl, and party then they are to snub one another.

"Myak sailors and Thlach conductors are apt to drink, brawl, and party then they are to snub one another." This is cute. Lovely addition to your 2022 article!

^^ Thank you. Trying to figure out what more I might say about trains was a bit oof, but being able to add social commentary to most things helps.

What would an ocean be without a monster lurking in the dark?
