In 1002 AC, king Tristam Reyam of the Freelanders loses a series of battles against Norionor Whiteshield of Lothen, and pledges the royal army to his service. The alliance was interrupted a few years later with the demise of Norionor, and when the Freelanders reclaimed their independence.
