Gildenburg
Gildenburg is the largest and most populous city in present day Viridium. Its large population is split into many districts and counties. The cities 10 districts are still ran and governed solely by the
Crown of Gildenburg. The 8 surrounding cities are each ran by their own set of houses, which together form the The Gilded Council.
History
Gildenburg was built upon the burried ruins of the ancient city Cyrium which was destroyed by Omus in 10,224. After over 800 dark years of venturing to the surface only for sustenance, the descendants of Cyrium's survivors emerged. With the news of of Omus' fall, the surface was no longer a death sentence for the inhabitants. A new settlement, led by Gerion Gild , began to form on the surface and quickly began to prosper. The only large obstacle for them were the ones who refused to emerge, The Eremites, and the thousands of wolves that had come to inhabit the Westwood Forest and its surrounding areas. After many months of trials and tribulations, Gildenburg was officially established.
Generations upon generations of Gildian's began reaping the incredibly fertile land leading to an abundance of resources, both for the growing settlement itself and its neighboring cities. It soon began to attract travelers and pilgrims alike and the population rapidly boomed. By 11,500 Gildenburg's population had surpassed that of it's previous form of Cyrium with no sign of stopping.
In the year 11,793 a previously uninhabited island off the coast of Gildenburg was deemed Royal Rock and was set to house the future royal palace of Gildenburg. It was to be built in honor of the The Viridium Pact, an upcoming treaty between many of the forces around Viridium in response to the defeat of The Primum Desh.

North Gildenburg
North Gildenburg is largely a residential area for many of the middle class families of Gildenburg. Scattered throughout North Gildenburg you can also find many Adventurer or Business Guild Halls. Notable halls include: Talons of the Red Dragon, Venture Incorporated. This is one of the lowest crime neighbors hoods in Gildenburg. Most of the taverns or businesses around this area remain relatively quiet, even on their busiest days.
North Gildenburg was the last border expansion of the Crown of Gildenburg, before many of the Nobles began to buy the surrounding landscapes to establish the small towns that now surround Gildenburg.
South Gildenburg
South Gildenburg is yet another high density, predominately housing area and is the second oldest district in Gildenburg. One thing that does stick out about South Gildenberg, is it appears on the surface to be one of the most well kept areas in Gildenberg, that could even rival the spotless streets of @highwater. This is mostly due to a large prescene of both religious and nature oriented guilds and organizations that inhabit this district. South Gildenberg also contains the highest concentration of churches and places of worship. Notable areas include: Aphins Garden, The Cycle's Sanctuary, The House of Serenity, @The Obsidian Chapel and many more notable buildings.
