Illdur (ILL-duhr)
a training dummy by Rafał Urbański
Early Life
Illdur was born the son of a baker in [PLACE] with a younger sister and two brothers, one older and one younger. As is customary of the eldest son, Illdur's brother Illdun was preparing to leave the family home in search of a higher calling. As a result, it fell on Illdur to take over the family bakery. His classical training began at the early age of 5 years. Illdur's father, Jurdan, used, low-level magic to aid in his craft. So Illdur was taught how to conjure small flames and how to control their intensity. Instantly it was clear that this child was special, his command of magic more than merely years ahead of what it should have been. It was as if he had an innate connection to Ignifian Magic that exceeded normal human capabilities. Jurdan recognized this potential and commanded Illdun to learn the family trade in place of his younger brother. Illdun never forgave Illdur brother for robbing him of his destiny, nor did he ever become as talented a baker as his father. Illdur left his home to attend [FAMOUS MAGICAL COLLEGE OF PLANE 3] where he instantly excelled beyond any other learner there. However, this wasn't enough for Illdur. As he grew up, he realized he had a gift, a certain way of understanding magic no other human could comprehend. Soon enough, [PLANE 3 SCHOOL] could teach him no more, so he left in search of [PLANE 1 SCHOOL]. This desire to learn Eveyan Magic magic sullied his local reputation and he was soon outcast as a traitor to their beliefs.Arrival in [PLANE 1 SCHOOL] and subsequent study
It was at [PLANE 1 SCHOOL] that Illdur first truly began to exceed the level of the great human wizards of history. Still a teenager, Illdur was commanding some of the most powerful magic Vexum had ever seen from a human. [PLANE 1 SCHOOL] was where Illdur first met [Bekon]. [Bekon] was assigned to be Illdur's personal instructor and guardian but became, primarily, his friend. Recognizing that he had the potential to far exceed any magic known to humans at the time, [Bekon] convinced Illdur that academia would only take him so far. So Illdur and [Bekon] left [PLANE 1 SCHOOL] to study the world. Illdur used his talents to help people, using these opportunities to learn more about the world, both its magical potential and the people who inhabited it. He learned more about the other species inhabiting Vexum, searching primarily for information about the Litram. The most famous act of heroism he performed during this time was the [liberation of Kemp]. Word spread of Illdur's acts and he began to become something of a heroic legend around Vexum .Bekon's death and the [NAME OF EVENT]
This period of travelling was brought to an end when [Bekon] was called back to [PLANE 1 SCHOOL] to aid during the [Rindon War]. Illdur refused the call. His interest was not in war, becoming obsessed with his own personal development. It wasn't until Illdur was informed of [Bekon]s death during the war that a hint of regret made its way into his mind. This regret quickly turned to anger, as Illdur blamed the Gerrum for this loss. Enraged, Illdur headed for Rindon and unleashed the most devastating display of arcane destruction Vexum had ever seen, leveling the entire city in a matter of seconds leaving behind nothing but a scorched crater in which no life has ever returned. All inhabitants of Rindon were instantly and indiscriminantly killed. News of this horrifying event spread quickly across Vexum , becoming known as [EVENT NAME] and creating the Barren Basin. The tales that portrayed Illdur as a friendly hero were forgotten, eclipsed entirely by news of this devestating act. Seeing what he had done, Illdur felt the hatred leave him and a wave of remorse flood his body. He fled back to his hometown, hoping to take refuge with his family. But upon returning home, Illdun took one look at what Illdur had become and spat in his brother's face. Claiming that he knew a stolen life would lead only to evil, Illdun left Illdur on the street, disowning him as his brother. Once again, rage took hold of Illdur, and he burned down his childhood home, killing his family.Years of Power
Having turned his back on the past, Illdur became consumed by his obsession with magic. His unique connection to both Eveyan Magic and Ignifian Magic led him to master all facets of the arcane on a level no Human had ever done before. Burdened with this overwhelming knowledge and understanding of The Aether and its significance in the universe as a whole, Illdur became terrified of mortality. His lifelong pursuit of the Litram turned from fascination to obsession. While attempting to discover the secrets of the lifespan of a Litram, Illdur also attempted his own ideas. The ability to inhabit Eveya and Ignifia would allow him to conquor the passage of time. He began experimenting with magic no one had ever seen before. The Ternus Core
The Ternus Core is a legendary magical artifact that has never been recovered since Illdur's downfall in [INSERT YEAR], despite many devoting their lives to finding it. Illdur's obsession with becoming more than Human is what led him to create the Ternus Core, although it is not well understood how he managed to create such a powerful magical artifact. Not long after [NAME OF EVENT] Illdur acquired a shard of [Nekorite] into which he imbued immense arcane energy. As far as it is understood, the shard used Ignifian Magic to draw life out of living things, and then used Eveyan Magic to imbue that life into a desired target. Illdur embedded this shard into an advanced mechanical chamber that could channel this power. He then embedded this chamber into his own body in order to harness the life giving energy it produced. Once mechanically housed and biologically fused, the shard became known as the Ternus Core (unknown naming credit). This was his weay of emulating the regenerative magic of the Litram, functionally stopping the aging process. The Durkan (WIP)

Ow, it's sad to read how he went from a hero to a mass murderer. Especially when he instantly feels remorse, and is denied a chance of redemption by a brother who already hates him for their father's decision... yeah, that certainly didn't help his morality. A really well-written article!
