House Gideon
Justice & Honor
House Gideon has been around for hundreds of years, and has gained a reputation for unyielding honesty and devotion to justice. The founder, Percival Gideon, was an incredibly honest man, and he was the best freind of Aurelius "Bull" Caedus, the founder of House Caedus. Because of this, House Gideon has always been loyal to House Caedus, and this loyalty to the crown has brought them great respect. House Gideon is famous for its magnificent warriors as well, as they have essentially redefined what it means to be a Knight in Hemlock. House Gideon is also one of the only Houses in Hemlock that has always refused to keep slaves, and they are much more tolerant of other races than the rest of Hemlock.
Wardens of the West
Towards the end of his life in 1315, Percival Gideon created the Hemlock Academy of Combat, a sort of military school that trains knights. This proved to be wildly successful, and the trainees from the academy became some of the best knights in the kingdom. The knights were so successful that in 1330 a royal decree was issued by House Lambros that stated that only the Royal House or House Gideon can give someone the rank of knight. Those who wish to be knights must be evaluated by someone from House Gideon, or be appointed as a knight by the crown. By this point, House Gideon had a reputation for being deadly peacekeepers in Hemlock, and they had earned the nickname "the Wardens of the West", a nickname they embraced. This is why knights who graduate from the Hemlock Academy of Combat are referred to as Wardens.
