Bright Shiners: The Titans of Vestra

When the gods defeated and bound Tharizdun shortly after the creation of Vestra it took most of their energy. Because of that, these godly powers retreated beyond the divine gate, voluntarily limiting their power in the world. Before they left, each of the gods chose a worshipper and fused them with a shard of divine energy, thus were born the Titans, or Bright Shiners.

Nine there were, for the nine gods of Vestra, and for a time things were peaceful. The races of Vestra flourished; humans, elves, and dwarves arrived in Ellebore and tamed the land. The Titans kept themselves to themselves for the most part, but would on occasion intervene when appealed too.

It was not until the beginning of the War of the Undead that it was revealed that there was a tenth Titan, this one a human/goliath wizard who had sold his soul (among other things) for a shard of Tharizdun's power.

Just as their divine parents had once done, the Nine, now know as the Bright Shiners, came together to bind their brother and push him beyond the divine gate, this preventing the destruction of Vestra. When the time came and the stars were in their proper alignment, Ninsidra, one of the Nine faltered and ran. The Eight did what they could, but without the Wanderer's child they could only lock him away along with the kingdom he had infected.

When the binding was complete all that remained of the Eight were the bells that they had wielded to weave starlight and magic into the Writ and Binding. Nothing is know of the Betrayer, if they still live or walk in our world.
