Tak

Domains: Knowledge, War - Lawful Good

Names

The Allhammer
The Divine Forgemaster
Lord of Mountains and Ground
The Divine Artisan
The Grand Arbiter

Description

The patron of craft and creation, the Allhammer is worshipped by smiths, artisans, and miners alike, granting inspiration where respect and prayer are given. He shaped the mountains from the chaos of the Founding, and stands as the patron protector of home and family. The devotion to the Allhammer is strongest in dwarven communities, and many of his temples mark the center of a mighty dwarven stronghold.   Tak was held in dwarven myths to have been incarnated from rock, stone, and metal, and that his soul was an ember of fire. It was said he forged the first dwarves from metals and gems and breathed souls into them when he blew on his creations to cool them.   Like most of the gods he believes in letting mortal races act according to their own wants and needs, but guiding them from a distance and letting them live their own lives in hands-off manners, for to them, if they, as divine beings, dictated the lives of their followers the sanctity of what they have worked for eons to create would be lost, as free-will is paramount to them even if it leads mortal races to bad situations or scenarios.   Many guild halls and workshops contain images of the Allhammer, a faceless, stout dwarf-like being of immense strength, hunched over a flaming heart clasped within his massive hands.

Holy Symbol

Crossed Hammers over a flaming anvil

Ability

A harsh but fair judge, he is strength and force of will embodied. Moradin inspired dwarven inventions and constantly sought to improve that race, encouraging their good nature, intelligence, and harmonious existence with other good races while battling their pride and isolationist tendencies.

Relationships

He is well respected among the gods and mortals of Ellebore, though his power has not been felt outside of hallowed dwarven temples in some time. Concerned primarily with his creations, he only gives scant attention to the activities of others.

Worshipers

The Allhammer's holy day is Deep Silence, and is celebrated on the 40th day of the eighth month. Especially devout followers of the Allhammer spend the day in isolation, meditating on the meaning of family and how they may be better mothers, fathers, siblings, and children. Other dwarven communities celebrate with a full day of feasting and drinking.

Clergy

Tak's clerics, known as Forgespeakers, were usually drawn from family lines, like most dwarven occupations; they wore earthy colors, with chain mail and silvered helms. Tak charged his followers with the task of wiping out the kingdoms of trolls. The church of Tak had an active role in guiding the morals of dwarven communities; they emphasized his hand in everyday dwarven activities such as mining, smithing, and engineering, and invoked his blessing when these tasks began. They led the push to found new dwarven kingdoms and increase their status among surface communities.
