Vodranti Hierarchy

Book Of Abidence, Recitation 4, "Necromancer Judged Before The 3rd"   1The adherent wept sinner's tears freely from withered eyes, before speaking; 2"Forgive me, my lord and lady, I have defiled the Law (for the law forbade the manipulation of the dead) and the Ar+++++ (who reigns forever). 3Forgive me, I beg of you, as Ax̼x̼ua forgave his kenyrb despite apostasy." 4The gesala paused as she listened closely to the whisperings of the Ancestral Throne, before responding with the authority of her predecessors and her army, 5"I have forgiven you before. And as man may sin indefinitely, we forgive still despite this. 6But your sin extends beyond any forgiveness a man can conjure. Even the Empress upon the Yauu cannot muster the grace nor the patience for this nonsensical rambling." 7She raised her arms outward and upward, before the Ar+++++ and the assembled tribunae and kenyr. 8"Know this- we all fail before the will of RBTR, our twice-sworn God, yet we are still allowed life despite. 9But the violation and manipulation of the dead is thrice sin, and even the machine-worshippers of Venus recognize the danger and moral apostasy inherent in the act of necromancy. 10I pray RBTR spares you unending pain, for I cannot. Mortal hands are weak. The divine wills, and it is so. It is not in my power to forgive. I sentence you to death inubriac, as stated by the Law." 11And there was howling and wails of agony from the sinner-adherent, even before his skin was flayed and his flesh anointed in fiery oils.   a: Ax̼x̼u Hiy was the gesala of the 3rd Clan (now the 5th Legion), who arose to power on the 42nd cycle of the 13th century, before his death at the hands of his brother, Myx Hiy.   b: Uay Gitra, one of 9 kenyrii sworn to Ax̼x̼u, had defied the Law upon the orbital bombardment of the Neptunian-Martian colonies, for the Law states, "The death of many men is cruel necessity. Death in numbers exceeding thousands is dark reality. Death in numbers exceeding millions is sin."   c: Death Inubria being a death traditional to the 5th Legion, where the sinner-apparent is bound by the flesh to a carvai table and deprived of skin, bone, and marrow. It is a practice often accompanied by imbibement in flame.
The Vodranti Hierarchy is one of the oldest factions existing within the Sol System. Their immense fleets are matched only by their skilled ability to man them, their prowess in war met only by their staunch will to endure hardship. Pain is an extension of life- it must be met in equal measure by faith and strength for it to be overcome. Free will is acquired in service, for to serve any other than one's Legion and Lord is to be a slave to the abhorrent flesh and the material world.   The Vodranti Legions are the more recent iteration of the spaceborne fleet of the Vodranti, and the classification of the various sub-organizations of the Vodranti. The Vodranti are not a unified or homogenous culture, and the Legions are only allied as far as the Hierarchy demands it.

Known Legions:

First Legion:   Originally, the Clan of Ceres and the most aligned with of the Empress.   Notable Members:   The Vodranti Empress.   Fifth Legion:   Originally the 3rd Clan, descended directly from the 3rd Old King's followers.   Notable Members:   Axxu Hiy, Gesala.   Dakai, Kenyr.   Myx Hiy, Tribunate of War.   Uay Gitra, Kenyr.   Seventh Legion:   Originally the Clan of Chariklo.   Notable Members   Yusa Undal, The First Zacharite   Ninth Legion:   Originally, the Clan of Vesta. Largest legion in terms of population and ships. Descended from the 2nd Old King's followers.   Notable Members:   Hark Mikan, Gesala.     Eleventh Legion:   Originally the Clan of Chiron.     Thirteenth Legion:   Legion created after the Empress claimed the Yauu. Serves as her honor guard and personal fleet. Based on Ceres. Mostly derived of exemplary members of many legions, especially the First.

Structure

The Vodranti Hierarchy varies wildly in structure depending on which Legion you are observing. A simple overview would be that there is God, and directly below God is the Empress, and the Empress is above the Gesala of the many Legions, and the Gesala has Tribunae who direct specific departments of the Legion, such as hydroponics, mining, war, and production. Then there are Kenyr, the leaders of that Legion's army, who are allotted ships by the Tribunate of War, forming a sort of thalassocracy where rank is determined by fleet size. As ships are constructed, or as other Kenyr die or are punished, ships are given to Kenyr based on performance and loyalty. Kenyr often start as the captain of only one ship, and eventually command entire armadas.
