Gesala

Gesala are the spiritual, military, and civic leaders of a Vodranti Legion, and direct the Legion's path in its service to the Empress. While the gesala certainly begin and end wars, the military of the Legion is more closely directed by the tribunae, who themselves delegate their kenyr over a certain number of ships and troops. Gesala are closely attuned with the history and accomplishments of their legion, and are essentially intertwined with their past, mostly due to their ritual bonding via porta to the Cathedra, or the Ancestral Throne within their Legion's Legatus, or capital ship. Gesala answer only to the Empress herself and possibly the council of their favored tribunus and other Vodranti leaders, such as priests or wizards.

Appointment

While previously the Gesala would determine their heir as soon as they were anointed to the position, all legions pardon the 9th have the Empress determine the future Gesala.
