Basic Information

Anatomy

Kyorei Visuals Jungle(small).png
Warrior Jungle Kyorei wield 6 limbs in total, their wings included. They can grow up to 5ft tall from head to toe with a 10-16ft in wingspan.   To compensate for their slightly diminutive size, Jungle Kyorei have larger tail ends for better whipping action to ward off enemies larger than themselves.

Biological Traits

Each Kyorei develops a black tinted coloration at the end of their ears. Said coloration slowly descends down the ear as they age before coming to a slow halt at Adulthood it is at this point, any Kyorei past 90 years gains a new grey tint beginning just at the tip of their ears.   Jungle Kyorei wield the element of Fire, though some may develop the ability to manipulate Earth, Nature, and/or Electricity through magical training. Within their bodies is an extra sac that connected to the windpipe that is filled with a flammable gas. With a quick enough release force combined with the static between a Kyorei's fangs, the gas is quick to ignite. These flames are Green and if used correctly, can result in healing properties.   As a plus, some Jungle Kyorei are capable of creating a venomous bite, should they choose the path of Nature Element.

Genetics and Reproduction

Kyorei typically will reproduce like most other terrestrial creatures.   After mating, a Female will likely hold either one or two pups for as long as a year. This period of gestation leaves her most vulnerable as it leaves her much more sluggish and heavier than usual. It also leaves her feeling much more irritable often, making it hard for team compatibility should she try to work with one despite her condition.

Growth Rate & Stages

Kyorei grow fairly quickly the time they are a Pup until Adulthood. Their eyes open the moment they are born and they are able to stand within 3 to 5 days. Within 6 to 8 days they are capable of early galloping and trotting.

Ecology and Habitats

Jungle Kyorei have adapted to life in the trees. Rather than build on the ground, with the help of the Mypsi, they have used the resources around themselves to create their huts and the bridges that connect in between.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Jungle Kyorei are omnivorous and will feed on both meat and fruit alike. Their front fangs make it easy to tear flesh when needed, as their molars for grinding various foods.   In fact, Jungle Kyorei will feed off of a mixture of berries and moss that have in turn given them their elemental capabilities. The berries they feed off of are poisonous to other creatures, their bodies having built a total immunity to them. Adults can easily ingest them, however young can have difficulties and may get sick in the beginning. These berries provide their fire with strange healing properties at lighter volumes, and searing, stinging wounds at higher volumes. It also provides them with a venom that can paralyze creatures as large as a deer in under a minute in small doses. The moss that they eat gives them the ability to spit a cup's worth of acid strong enough to eat through flesh faster than sulfuric acid and can cause severe wounds. As a byproduct, consumption of the moss causes an oil to secrete through the Jungle Kyorei's skin that can be rubbed through their fur as protection from their own acid.   Having a pack like mentality, Jungle Kyorei will hunt in a group of 4 for medium-sized prey, or 5 if it is something much bigger than themselves. Anything smaller does not call for a higher count than just 2. After a catch or gathering has been made, they are brought back to the village to designated den areas for consumption. Said den areas are carefully watched over to make sure nothing takes more than what they need.

Biological Cycle

Jungle Kyorei fur will shorten and lengthen depending on the time of the season. Should it become Summer/Spring, their fur is of a medium length, perhaps shorter depending on the individual. Come Autumn/Winter, their fur lengthens to prepare for the oncoming snow and ice. Between the seasonal changes of Summer to Winter, their fur sheds, however, most of it does not just fall to the ground.   The Mypsi, their symbiotic partners, have crafted devices for grooming their much larger companions and have taken to using their Winter pelts for their own nests. Few Kyorei themselves even use their sheddings for their own beds.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Jungle Kyorei are very sociable and laid back. A single Jungle Kyorei would know everyone in their home, know who's expecting, who's done what and when, etc. Your bestest friend neighbor from just a few feet away! The only problem is to other species, they may seem a tad nosey.   If you ever find yourself being prodded at a bit too much, all it takes is a polite request for personal space. They'll get the idea! Sort of.

Facial characteristics

Between Males and Females, Males may grow more of a beard-like feature as they age. Whether it is the same color as their pelt or their mane differs between genetics.

Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

The Mypsi have grown fond of the Kyorei kind and have therefore formed a bond with the fellow tree dwelling kind. Because the Mypsi are far more capable of wielding a tool than the Kyorei, they have been able to fulfill needs such as extreme grooming, crafting, cleaning, trade routes, scouting, etc. And in exchange, they receive food, shelter, and protection.

Civilization and Culture

Culture and Cultural Heritage

The Kyorei of the Umodo Tribe prefer to live in humid, tropical regions for the sake of growing crops. Hotter months brought on tropical rains that fueled their watering systems so that crops weren't overwatered during large storms. What the land offered them in terms of fruits, vegetables, or game, they fed off of it. This included fishing from their abundant rivers, which they especially excelled at. Unlike their homes which were held in the trees, their markets were held at ground level. However, like their treehouses to a degree, their "storefronts" were elevated off of the ground. In case of emergencies, the marketplace could be pulled from the lower region to safety should there be flooding or unwanted guests.   Newborn= Pups Young= Soft Tails Juvenile= Thorns (A group of Thorns is a Bramble) Adolescent= Blooms/Blossoms (Only after they have completed trials)

Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals

Every Umogozi that had ever lived and passed were immortalized within special sanctuaries built to honor their names. When an Umogozi had passed on to the Afterlife, it was believed that they had become one with the stars, passing into a much greater existence.

History

Since the Great Migration in 212 G.D, the Umodo have taken root in the Umidus Rainforest to expand. Their links to their Loroto brethren stayed for only as long as two millenia before they had become entirely new creatures adept to their tropical home entirely. They had also created their own culture, their own rituals, and begun crafting new beliefs for what they saw in the world and what they saw in their Umogozi. By 230. G.D they had discovered the existence of the Aga purely by accident. The Umodo feared them, viewing them as voracious spirits who were likely feigning kindness in order to become close enough so that they could capture and take the flesh of the Umodo. However, when a small pack of hunters were intercepted by Khar' Baash Workers, the Aga stepped in to help, driving out the invasive Bahal from the area. For this, the Umodo were grateful and formed a strong bond with the Aga.
