Dexraven

"My darling Elci, I wish you could see it. Dexraven stands taller than ten mountains and is wide enough to fit a thousand cities... The marvels and beauty inside are never ceasing... One could never hope to see it all, even should you live for a thousand years..." ~ Yosston Dorrug Traziver, in a letter to his lover

Demographics

Though humans still make up a majority of the population, there has been a boom in the numbers of Elder Races and Cursed Ones. Humans make up the vast majority of the wealthy and affluent and are exclusively allowed into the noble class. Other races may experience some success and achieve a level of comfort, but a majority are poor or destitute.

Government

The Noble's Spire, a collection of 223 nobels, rule the city in a vast and intricate game of politics. The city is divided into four quarters, with the North considered the poorest and most unruly, the East containing many of the tradesmen and factories, the West containing the wealthy and affluent as well as a booming market that acts as "The Gateway to the North", and the South Quarter holding the government district, standing armies, mage and scholarly academies. In the center of the city lies the actual Nobel's Spire, from which the nobels from various Quarters come to debate and vote on pressing subject. However, since any new legislation requires a two thirds ratio vote, the Spire is often deadlocked with Nobels waiting for various sides to bribe them before choosing sides. The power of a nobel's vote also depends on which Quarter they hails from, as wealth and resources are often crucial in enacting any legislation. Nobels are selected from established human families, though a highly ambitious and successful Human might be able to establish their own house, should they play their cards right. It is a highly corrupt for of government, however, due to the fear that the increase in Elder Race and Cursed One population has brought, the nobles are secure in their position.

Defences

The walls of the Godforged are massive, well crafted giants, encircling the around a space of around 500 square miles and standing over 700 ft tall. The interior walls are slightly taller and intersect the city into four Quarters before meeting in the middle of the city at the Noble's Spire. These walls are heavily defended, with Dexraven financing a standing army of around 400,000 troops, and 250,000 guards.

Infrastructure

This is a city of unlimited possibilities. As the second largest Godforged, there is an innumerable variety of possible jobs, occupations, and trades to ply. However, the main industries of the city are technology, manufacturing, and education.   The Eastern Quarter of the city is a vast landscape of workshops, factories, and testing grounds. Some speculate that Dexraven may even begin to rival the Haudurian Quarry State of Melthaldor in technological advances. It is a well-known rumor that several factories are beginning to work on flying weapons, and have begun research on recovered golems from the Heavens War. Dexraven is also known for its education institutions. Hundreds of topics are taught to students that are willing and rich enough to learn. The magic schools are renowned throughout the world as well, several bearing the honor of holding the names of world's top casters in their old rosters. Many universities also act as embassies, hosting world leaders and their children for extended periods of time.

Assets

Not only does Dexraven have access to the vast amounts of timber that Edresh provides, most of Haudur's prized stone and precious metals must pass through in order to make it to Ostothar. Therefore, the markets in the Western Quarter are filled dawn to dusk with landowners, timber lords, merchants, and peddlers attempting to outdo their competitors.

Guilds and Factions

The city is host to innumerable guilds, factions, co-ops, and other groups. However, main groups of note are: Chimeric Order - Ruling Class Noble's Spire - Ruling Class Merchant's Guild - Economic Arcane Council - Magic Circle of the Waning Tome - Magic Runic Guild of Edresh - Academic/Scholarly Fraternity of the Immortal Scroll "Whitehats" - Academic Elder's Rising - Rebels Assassin's Guild - Sanguine - Illicit Thieves Guild - Shadow - Illicit Spies Guild - Silence - Illicit
