The Aetherlight Spire
Spire of Dreams and Mirrors, Keeper of the Veil
Sanctum of Dream and Planar Insight
The Aetherlight Spire is the most enigmatic of Oakvein’s six sacred halls. Home to Loremaster Nemoi, it serves as a bridge between realms—part temple, part laboratory, and part dream-archive. Here, planar boundaries thin, and the veil between the waking world, the Feywild, and even the Astral Plane becomes translucent.
Where others craft, heal, or debate, Nemoi listens—to the hum of the planes, the whisper of dreams, and the subtle ripples left behind by gods, fey, and ancient beings long departed.
History and Lore
The Spire’s origin is tied to an event known only as the Veil-Walk, when Nemoi vanished from Oakvein for seven days and seven nights beneath a moonless sky. When he returned, he bore the seed of a fey dream-spire, gifted by a starborn archfey known as The Mirror Bloom.
With the guidance of Faeluneth and the blessing of the tree itself, the spire was coaxed into being—grown, not built, through dream-shaping and planar resonance. Since then, the Aetherlight Spire has become a locus of dream-touched convergence in the Gnarley Forest, attracting fey entities, dreamwalkers, and vision-priests from across the Flanaess.
Function and Role in Oakvein
- Planar Mapping and Observation
The Spire functions as a lighthouse for planar currents, charting fluctuations in the Feywild, Astral Plane, Shadowfell, and the Dreaming. - Dreamgate Navigation
Through lucid trancework and the use of starlit pools, Nemoi and his aides navigate and map the dream-threads that touch Oakvein and nearby realms. These are used to detect incursions, foresee emotional disturbances, or access lost elven memories. - Fey Concords and Visitors
The Aetherlight is a neutral site where fey courts occasionally send envoys. These guests may arrive unannounced, often in unusual forms—some with warnings, others with riddles. - Mystical Research
Nemoi pursues a personal quest to catalog the metaphysical echoes left behind by lost gods, dream-walkers, and planar beings.
Key Features and Spaces
✦ The Dream Orb Array
Suspended from the canopy, a constellation of floating orbs rotates slowly through color and shape. Each tracks a known or suspected dreamgate or planar anchor point across Oerth.
✦ The Reflection Pool
A shallow basin of silver-clear water that mirrors not the body, but the soul’s unrest. Used for dream scrying and lucid entry into shared dreamscapes.
✦ Fey Tether Rings
Three crescent-shaped thrones carved from alabaster and luminous crystal, bound with vines and hung with wind chimes. These are used to host fey guests or anchor visitors during dream-walks.
✦ The Veil Archive
An ethereal chamber of memory-silk scrolls, bound with dream-ink. Some are readable only during trance or under moonlight. Contains records of past Feywild alignments, astral flares, and nightmare incursions.

- Trance Vigils: Conducted on solstices, where participants enter guided lucid dreams
- Fey Migrations: During alignments, flocks of fey spirits pass through the spire
