Erritian Empire

Demography and Population

Once the most powerful nation in the world, the great plague laid the Erritian Empire low. It's cities once stood on every continent, people and villages anywhere you wish to go. Now it is but a small hold out of cities. The Queen commands from Candriss, but is powerless to reach her subjects in other lands. The smaller villages and towns fell to the plague for the most part, and what places didn't fall no longer held any allegiance to the queen.   That said, the Empire is essentially just the city of Vorgan now. It has a population of around 12,000 people who live within the cities massive walls.

Territories

While the Queen is fervent that she still controls all the lands that the empire once conquered, the truth is far glibber. The influence of the empire stretches from Vorgan to the Greatwood nearby. All other lands have reclaimed freedom and many have begun self-rule under old names from before they were conquered.

Military

Having been laid to ruin, the only remaining part of the military is the town guard. Any soldiers were withdrawn from keeps and moved back into the city to protect it during the plague. The main defensive organization is the Adventurer's Legion who act as a forward party out into the wilds.

Technological Level

The Erritian empire has given birth to some of the most tactical minds the world has ever seen. While it may not have had the magic of the elves or the smiths of the dwarves, military acumen is what allowed them to take control of all five continents.

Religion

As with most places, the people of the empire follow religion to a varying degree. Some honour the gods daily with prayers, devotions and service attendance. Some say a small prayer on holidays or when needed. Others have no interest in the church. While The church of the twelve is the official religion, it is not force attendance. There is no penalty for not following the paths, instead, it is merely thought as an oddity.

Foreign Relations

Other nations have always considered the Erritian empire with fear and disdain. Now that they cannot fight back, the other races and nations no longer fear them, but the old grudges have not died. The only reason they are not at war is because The Great Plague did not discriminate and made the other races and nations to weak to fight back.

Education

There are academies for students and children to be educated in, but they are not compulsory. Parents may enrol their children for a fee to be watched over during the day and given a proper education. This includes history, geography, cooking, hunting, farming, and basic skills for day to day life.   Children may also be given to an apprenticeship to learn a trade instead, or it may be that they help whatever the family does to earn its keep and learn a skill or trade that way.

The Queen issues whatever Edicts she deems fit. Royal Decree is Law within 1 week of being proclaimed. Anyone found in violation of that law is at the mercy of the guard or military, whichever is deemed responsible for enforcement.
Judicial Body
The Terinai are responsible for making judgements. They serve at the behest of the queen and are beholden to her Decrees as well. They hold trial allowing both sides to present their case, bring forth any evidence and then make a ruling. Most rule according to decree as failing to do so could land on them being executed for dereliction of the highest office.
