Public Agenda
To spread the word of the twelve to alll. To bring peace to the souls man through their divine inspiration.
Mythology & Lore
When the world was born, it created twelve followers. being of power and vision to watch over it as it sleeps. These are known as the twelve. They brought all life and balance to world. Everything is created by them in them infinite wisdom as they watch over the world, until one day it awakens and begins its journey anew.
Divine Origins
This religion developed on multiple continents. Each have different names for the gods but the stories and ideas remain the same. no one is sure how long ago the churches were founded or which of the gods spoke, but people the world over heard the call and wrote down the holy texts.
Tenets of Faith
Each god is an ideal, a path to be followed. Some dedicate their entire lives to a single god and try to live in their image. Some pick multiple and seek balance between them. Some may follow a god for years before realizing they've changed as a person and are now on a different path.
However, the truely devout believe that absolution can only come when one follows all the gods and finds true perfection in life.
Ethics
The ultimate sin is to squander the gifts given by the twelve. To turn your back on your fellow man instead of offering a helping had. Each must travel their own path in life, but it is the worst person who puts hazards in front of their fellow instead of clearing the way. Each of the twelve has a different idea of how gifts are squandered.
Worship
Service is held every morning of the week. Most do not attend but once or twice a week but service is held every day for the faithful. The service is comprised of a repitition of the texts, re-affirming the twelve paths and reminding each of the pitfalls they face. The Priest then gives time for witnessing, each who wishes may come and discuss their travels, the successes and failures, with the congregation. Once that has concluded the priest gives a blessing in the name of the twelve over the congregation and the service is dismissed.
Priesthood
Those who aspire to follow the path of absolution typically become part of the priesthood. it is a difficult path to follow but those that do are considered true believers and initiated into thhe fold as a priest or priestess. Each must show their devotion to the paths of the twelve to advance in ranks amongst the believers. The highest rank is the Guide, the person who has travelled and understood the paths and reached absolution. They guide the rest of the church and the faith towards inner peace.
Political Influence & Intrigue
Royalty are tested before becoming adults to see if they are fit to rule. It is believed that a good ruler must follow at least one path of twelve and use their gifts for good, otherwise they are deemed unworthy to rule and the next heir is awaited.
Sects
There are fanatics of the twelve, many of whom take the teachings in the wrong direction. They are fringe and are either brought back to path theyy have wandered from, or cast out from the church.
