Career

Qualifications

There are no qualifications needed to join the Rulers pathway, only a commitment to the pathway.

Career Progression

There are several different levels and options within the Rulers pathway within Vellich Profession Paths, but unlike other pathways, career progression isn't so much a clear path with one direction.    There is a single entry level position of Junior Ruler. As a Junior Ruler, a person is expected to shadow the ruler, pick up some administrative work and understand what is expected.    A person may then choose to be either Administrators or Village Ruler.     Administrators manage the administration of the ruling system. They create the documents of ruling, offer advice, run research and any other jobs that may support others in the Rulers pathway.    There is only ever one Village Ruler, and they are the person in charge of making decisions for the village of settlement. They lead from the front, and have responsibility for listening to other members of their community.    Someone may choose to move from Village Ruler to Administrator or vice versa depending on what they need. It is important that the Village Ruler has good mental health so it is not uncommon for them to step down from the Village Ruler position for a matter of years before being able to step up again.    The Ruler position is slightly different from the Village Ruler position. It is for people ruling larger settlements and there may be multiple Rulers for a single settlement.

Perception

Purpose

The purpose of the Rulers is to manage the running of the settlements in Vellikka. They make decisions on behalf of their communities, taking the opinions of these people into account when they do so. They work closely with the heads of the other pathways, particularly the Storytellers, and work to identify issues and solve them. They make strategy and plans for their settlements, preparing for whatever the future might bring.

Social Status

Rulers are among the most respected people within the community. Not many people choose to be rulers because of the responsibilities involved and the stress of it, and as such they are held in high regard.
