Curses

Curses are an ancient form of magic, and one that has been used even before The Melding. Curses are always harmful to their target and are mostly employed by witches or evil mages, for nefarious purposes. It is said that performing a curse will taint ones soul, which potentially has spiritual repercussions.   Many curses are used as a form of revenge, or are cast out of spite, or jealousy of the targeted individual. The stronger the motive and emotions attached, the stronger the curse will turn out. As such, one does not necessarily need to have control over the weave or a strong bond with a Deity or Spirit, though a connection with magic will often help with performing the curse.   Casting a curse is a very involved matter, requiring very specific materials, a specific location or a certain time of the year, making planning a curse in advance almost always a necessity. Usually a curse has severe costs or risks attached to it, so employing one is always a dangerous matter.   Curing a curse is a matter which requires some preparation as well. Most of the time, this can only be done by a very specific method. The stronger the curse is, the harder it will be to cure it.
