Uulthas
The Ruined Depths is a dangerous place. Its a hope for pirates, treasure seekers, outlaws and exiles. The very air in some places is poisonous. But nothing is as large a danger as the massive volcano in in the main central mountain, called Uulthas. Like an open vein to the heart of the world, Uulthas has stood for thousands of years, so high that even when the continent it was once a part of sank into the sea, its peaks still remained above the clouds.
Uulthas is used mostly by sea captains sailing from Koria to Eltar. Since it lies between the two continents and any captain worth his salt knows to give the area around it a wide berth, not only due to the pirates that patrol the waters around it, but also due to the stones that lie just deep enough under the surface of the water to be hidden until its to late.
Geography
Uulthas is a massive volcano, the top of which is so tall it cant be seen from sea or from on land. If one wished to see the summit, you would need to climb high into the cloud cover to witness its majesty. Why anyone would do this, I do not know.Uulthas is a huge volcanic mountain that covers the most part of the large main island in The Ruined Depths. While not truly active, it is know to rumble from time to time, which sends avalanches of stone and debris falling down the mountains steep sides. Large clouds of sulfur obscure the top of the mountain, though its profile can be seen at night thanks to the fire glowing from within. Small lakes of poisoned water can occasionally be found along the sides.
Fauna & Flora
Ancient bristle cone pines grow along the mountain cliffs, some said to be so old they were around during the time of Gaveheim.
Natural Resources
The soil in the area around the mountain is the true value of this place. Deep black soil, rich is volcanic minerals, crops grow here must faster than anywhere else in the world.
A few entrepreneurs have even been known to take massive barges and fill them with soil, then sell it to farm and plantation owners throughout the world.
