Additional Information

For the Shoqen society is a contest of one's hunting skill and collection of fine trophies. Their society is ever changing as families that produce better hunters rise in ranks and those that stagnate drop. It is a tumultuous system that the Shoqen refuse to change.

Facial characteristics

They tend to have long, harsh features that give a sense of arrogance and self-importance. This is pared with cold eyes that tend towards browns and black and hair colors that range from greens, browns, yellows, oranges, and other natural and woodsy colors.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

They do not travel outside of Kipales for any reason outside of imperial summons. This is a mix of being unwelcome in other places and also their own choice.

Average Intelligence

They are brilliant hunters though they often neglect other skills as a result.

Civilization and Culture

Beauty Ideals

The Shoqen are incredibly vain, they consider themselves to be the finest testament to 'true beauty'. They refuse the use of make-up or body modification instead focused on the purity of ones appearance. This is based entirely on one's ability to blend into their surroundings as well as the length and care of their hair. They do however tend to drape themselves in minor trophies of bone, feather, and fur.

Gender Ideals

Women are expected to do the cooking and to tend to the family, the only reason they are not expected to do the cleaning and upkeep of the home is because the Shoqen consider such things below them. They are also still expected to join in large hunts, though more as back up than as a real part of the hunt. Males are expected to be able to hold their liquor, prove their strength and skill as hunters, and to know the proper ways to preserve their kills and trophies.

Courtship Ideals

The main feature of courtship for them is to present their intended with their kills and with impressive hunts. The ideal gift in this case would be a Radyajie pelt, something that is no longer possible sense then, that has been replaced by the presentation of Myklal, Lepmiu, Talaxay or even Vorn hides, feathers, and scales. Or other 'bestial' races.

Relationship Ideals

The ideal relationship, or rather the standard relationship, to the Shoqen is one in which the male has control and the female simply cares for the family, cooks, and does as told.

Average Technological Level

The Shoqen refuse the use of technology that was not created by them. They have however made some advancements in the field of hunting and ranged combat.

Common Dress Code

They tend to wear leather armor and/or furs and natural made fabrics that are kept in colors that blend in with the forest around. These are almost always decorated with hunting trophies.

Culture and Cultural Heritage

The Shoqen culture is incredibly elitist, they have no respect or understanding of other races seeing them instead as animals for the hunt in most cases. They have little in the way artistic expression and spend more of their time on competing, drinking, and otherwise hunting. They do prove useful in the food trade however and in the trade of furs, bone, and other animal based materials.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Abysmal, they are not well liked by even their neighbors in the the Kipales Province as they have burned most bridges. The fact of the matter is that they are barely part of the empire, and wouldn't be if not for their usefulness in certain trades. That said in recent history many restrictions have been placed on them and they are under constant imperial watch.
