Protector's Vale

Protector's Vale lies in the eastern part of the Detrinian Empire, near the border of Aciaroma. It is surrounded by Celestia Peaks. The mountains offer protection from the sun, and the small streamlets flowing down from the mountainsides supply enough water to allow plants and animals alike to flourish there, despite the heat of the desert.

Thanks to its location near Sweetwood, Necrites have lived in Protector's Vale for ages. The fertile land is covered in farms and forests, which have supplied most of Salt Coast with food and wood. The mountains around the Vale have numerous fortified windmills, which offer both milling and protection from beasts and bandits alike.

The Vale has numerous hamlets, independent farms, and mining camps, but only one city: Steadfast. For the longest time, Steadfast was mainly a trading post and an intersection of routes: people from all over the Vale went there to trade, meet and celebrate, and traders from outside came there to buy the goods of the Vale and to sell their own wares in a large market.

After the Tunnel War, much has changed. Many necrites had to flee the conquered Sweetwood, and most knew that Protector's Vale was both close and fertile. But the lands of the Vale can't support that many new people. While many necrites continued deeper into Salt Coast, Protector's Vale remains overcrowded, and it can no longer supply the rest of Salt Coast.

Most of the remaining people were older members of the clergy - the new rulers of Aciaroma wanted to stamp out rebellious thoughts, and took the seniority of Detrin's clergy in their sight. Thanks to these priests, many new religious buildings were built after the war, and Protector's Vale has now accidentally become the heart of Katisan's worship.

Currently, Protector's Vale is peaceful, but busy. Aspirant Thorsin Brighteye has preached about the evils of Theocracy of the Wurm and its dark god, and how the Detrinian Empire must launch a crusade against them to save the world like the necrites of old did centuries ago. His speeches have given countless desperate and aimless necrites a new purpose: they are to be divine warriors who will drive away the darkness and return the Empire's trustworthiness and glory. Now they must prepare for another legendary war. Forges and hammers constantly create more weapons and armors for the future crusade, and even the lowliest farmer toils happy in the knowledge that soon they will be so much more.
