Quori

Quori were long thought to be a figment of folklore, most commonly referenced in Innish culture. In the Innish religion of the Path of the Ancestors, ritualistic use of psychedelic mushrooms has been prevalent, and many who undergo these psychedelic experiences have described contact with entities that they called "Quori". In Innish folklore a Quori is an otherworldly spirit, a being from another plane, which can be glimpsed while under the influence of psychedelics. Such beings are described as vaguely humanoid, with a malleable body, and featureless faces. Their shapes, colors, physical properties, and auras are unique to the Quori, of which there are many. Perhaps as many as there are people in the material world. Innish shamans warn that Quori are drawn to psychic power, and that the psychic awakening that psychedelics induce attract them like a fly to the ointment. In such folklore, Quori are described as neither good nor evil, much like the people of this world, they have their own motives. Shamans do warn that they feed off of psychic energy, and as such the psychic awakening experienced by psychedelics is a tempting, and easy offering for Quori. It is believed that when one emerges from their psychedelic trip fearful and withdrawn, it must mean a Quori had consumed a piece of their psyche.   In Cellan folklore there exists a creature called the Vormechty, whose physical descriptions match those written by Innish shamans almost identically. The Vormechty are described as nightmare creatures who visit you while you dream, and are said to possess you if you allow yourself to be caught by them in your dreams. Many other cultures have similar folklore regarding creatures that visit you while you dream, which have varying levels of overlap with how Quori have been described in Innish and Cellan culture.   Through a combination of historical research and recent advancements in planar science, the idea of Quori as a credible creature has gained significant traction. It has been noted by historians that there are extreme similarities in the folklores of several cultures across all of Vallonde, regarding Quori, and many such similarities had been recorded before the first known contact between these cultures. The modern theory regarding Quori has emerged as a result of Planar research regarding the Abstract Reality. A theory had emerged that there may exist creatures that live within the Abstract Reality, much in the same way we live upon the Material Reality. Such creatures would only be perceivable in situations of high Abstract power, such as through psychedelics, which have been proven to spike Abstract power in its users (at the risk of severe psychological trauma). The state of dreaming has also been proven to be a manifestation of Abstract power (though it is still poorly understood).   Quori hunting has become a sensationalist topic among scientists, some scoffing at the creature as a myth and a waste of time and resources, while others dedicate their lives to uncovering the truth behind the creature, hoping to become immortalized in the academic community, and perhaps make breakthroughs in the understanding of other realities, and the intricacies of the Abstract. A common joke among the more conservative academic community is that Quori hunters are just looking for an excuse to sleep and get high using grant money.
