Orros

Orros is a god of Dichotism, one of the Fallen. He embodies the domains of hatred, vengeance, and power. Orros was once one of the Risen, a god of retribution and order. When Artius slew Illia, goddess of love, he swore her death would be given justice. He sought out Artius to exact retribution, only to find Artius has been reborn as one of the Risen, his act forgiven by Illia's dying breath. In spite of of this, and the knowledge that Artius' rebirth was born of hope, and forgiveness from Illia herself, Orros let his need for retribution consume him, and darken to vengeance. Orros and Artius fought, a battle of the ages. Artius defeated Orros in the end, yet decided to spare his life in honor of the forgiveness Illia showed him. Lying defeated upon the field, Orros' heart was gripped by the chains of hate that once held Artius, and rather than taking Artius' hand, he allowed himself to fall deep beneath the crust of the earth, being reborn as one of the Fallen. As with all of the Fallen, Orros is not given the dignity of a humanoid form in artistic depictions. Instead, he is most often shown as a cloud of ash or consuming fire, leaving his victims scorched husks that continue their lives empty. A lesson regarding the all consuming nature of hate.   A Dichotist proverb exists, written by Ansul himself in The Dichotomy, which encapsulates the lessons of this tale:
"When vengeance you reap, vengeance you sow."
