Artius

Artius is a god of Dichotism who embodies the domains of freedom, hope, and honor. The story of Artius is not clear, Ansul was only given glimpses of it. Ansul wrote that he believed Artius was once one of the Fallen, the god of hatred. During the Eternal Conflict, before the Mortal Bulwark had been made, Artius found Illia, the goddess of love at the time. The goddess was not a warrior, and she made no attempt to defend herself as Artius slew her. With the last of her power, she freed Artius' heart from the shackles of hatred. Upon seeing the beauty he had slain, and now freed from his hatred, he left the Fallen behind to be reborn as one of the Risen. Ansul writes of visions in which Artius is within Infernus, fighting to free any who are imprisoned or enslaved within that realm. Ansul writes that Artius is eventually killed, and is resurrected again in Celestia, only to descend to Infernus to begin his work once more. Dichotist folklore states that when you see a shooting star that is so bright, it briefly lightens the sky as though it were daylight, that you are witnessing Artius descending once more into Infernus.
