Ansul

Ansul was a member of the Logicmasters, and a Mentat upon the Council of Mentats. He was Human, born to a merchant family in Darneshi lands. In his adolescence, he idolized Oremar, and decided to run from home to join the Logicmasters. Under the guidance of the Logicmasters he learned eagerly, finding a particular passion for history. His research lead to crucial discoveries, uncovering ancient draconic texts which allowed him to create multiple new spells. These accomplishments earned him the rank of Mentat. Upon achieving this status, he decided to leave his studies and travel the world. He searched ancient ruins along his travels, seeking more hidden knowledge. After years searching, Ansul discovered an ancient tome, its binding too faded to read, and its pages blank. His intuition told him there was more to the tome, so he continued to study it, seeking a way to reveal its secrets. The next morning, Ansul awoke and told his apprentice that he had spoken to gods in his sleep. Each night thereafter, he would claim to have been visited by gods, seeing visions, and experiencing revelations.   Guided by his revelations, he wrote a book titled The Dichotomy, a consolidation of his experiences. The book was the foundation upon which the religion of Dichotism would be founded. The Council of Mentats were unimpressed with his work, as it was entirely experiential, with no provable use. Ansul refused to relent, speaking his revelations to any who would listen. Believing he had gone mad, Ansul was removed from the Council of Mentats. He travelled to Bethan lands, where he had been offered refuge among a budding community devoted to his teachings. Bethan lands were rapidly consumed by the spreading of Dichotism over the course of his lifetime. He died of an unknown illness at the age of 73, at which point Dichotism had gained a large foothold in his Darnesian homelands. He had no children, though his family endured, and the current Sultan of the Darnesian Sultanate is related to Ansul by blood. He is entombed in a secret location that only the royalty of the Sultanate know. His life no doubt will leave its impact upon the world for generations to come.
