Darneshi

The Darneshi are an ancient culture that stretches to the earliest days of the 1st Epoch. In ancient times, Darneshi followed the Path of the Ancestors, yet they wholeheartedly converted to Dichotism early in the 4th Epoch upon its foundation. They are among the most devoted to the religion, only rivaled in their fervor by the Bethans  Their history is violent, filled with stories of heartful loyalty, and wicked betrayal. Conflict is considered a part of normal life, and no true Draneshi is not also skilled in some form of combat. They are a culture accustomed to strict hierarchies of rulership, with clearly defined classes that have very little mobility. Darneshi are taught to accept their lot in life, and to make the most of their situation rather than seek to supplant those above you. Darneshi have a strong sense of familial tradition, where the family trade is passed down through generations, along with family secrets regarding that trade. The creations of Darneshi craftsmen are not just high quality, but also unique, bearing artistry and nuance that denotes a lineal history.   Darneshi traditionally consist of of Humans, Elves, and Half-Elves, with lesser populations of Tiefling, Orc, and Goblin. They live almost entirely within a arid climates, and as such heavily rely on trade to thrive. Due to this, Darneshi are often well traveled, or at least world-knowledgeable, having a nomadic spirit about them. The history of violence within their culture, and the harshness of surviving in the desert, has made most Darneshi feisty and confrontational, always aware that the strong will survive where the weak cannot. They think in binary terms, you are either a friend or a rival, a benefit to the group or a detriment. Their mindset is transactional, whether in bartering resources, or social favors. These traits culminate in a stereotype that Darneshi are treacherous, betraying their friend the moment they are no longer useful. A Darneshi would argue that they are merely pragmatic.
