Leech Snake
by hughpierre
Basic Information
Ecology and Habitats
Prefers wet, muddy environments like those found in the Wet Wilds and recreated under Talons. In the past, there must have been sufficient suitable prey for the leech snake to maintain itself in its adult state.
Changing conditions in the wilds have endangered the species, leading to certain scholars to turn an aquarium into a managed habitat that surround the school like a moat.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Blood
When they are smaller, they are more vulnerable to predation. But they also have more opportunity to feed than they ever would as adults.Their hollow teeth angle towards each other to slice their way through the skin to siphon the blood. In a reversal of the typical advantage to animal growth, the leech snake grows too large in its life cycle to continue to feed on the animals in its natural environment. Its maw simply grows too big to find purchase on any available prey.

Talon Moat
The last of the species are kept and cared for in a custom made aquarium. Though they are endangered, the leech snake's alien likeness acts as a deterrent to potential trespassers. Rumors of being drained to husks is enough to dissauade attempts.Geographic Origin and Distribution
