The Border
There is a lush clear river that flows down the middle of Valheim, which also acts as a natural border between the east and west side of the island. It is a popular fishing spot and it also circles around the central city of Klagos. It is highly illegal to swim in the waters of The Border because it is basically the entire island's main source of fresh water.
Geography
The Border's waters are clear and clean due to conservation laws put in place by the rulers of Valheim. The law states that there will be no bathing, washing anything, or throwing trash into the river for any reason. People travel across the lands to get a glimpse at its crystal clear water.
Fauna & Flora
- Miscellaneous river fish: Swimming through the waters of The Border are many small to medium-sized fish that are caught and sold by residents of Klagos.
- Merfolk traders: Rarely a caravan of merfolk merchants will travel down the border as a quick way of transportation across to the other side of the island.
- Kelpie: The Kelpies that dwell in The Border were created with a magic spell which mutates a normal fish into a horrific guardian of the seas. They were created to strictly enforce the conservation law on the border by attacking creatures that decide to take a swim in its waters.
- Lilytoad: A Lilytoad is a large toad that grows a lily pad atop its head. They use this lily pad to hide from predators and any other creature that might harm it, but they also use this disguise to sneak up on their prey.
Natural Resources
- Fish: The border is home to many different kinds of river-dwelling fish that citizens of Klagos tend to take advantage of. Every year Klagos even dedicates a day to a fishing competition with the promise of riches to the winner.
- Clean water: The water of The Border is *Mostly* clean and can be safe to drink with the proper safety boundaries.
Tourism
The border is a very good example of Valheim's strange ecosystem. According to all science, the border should consist of only saltwater, but when water from the ocean reaches the mouth of the border, all of the salt seems to get caught on something and doesn't pass through, only allowing freshwater past. This interesting natural phenomenon attracts many tourists.
