The Three Nails of Torog

Torog, the god of pain and masochism, reviles in the idea of his followers in pain. One of the most accessible pains is driving nails into their own bodies. He delights in this so much, his secret symbol is three, overlapping nails forming a sort of triangle with elongated points. This symbol is used by Torog followers to signify their worship of Torog. It's inauspicious enough to go unnoticed by common people, but his followers know exactly what it means.   With the ubiquity of nails, authorities cannot make laws or even attempt to uphold them in banning three nails in a certain arrangement. What if the nails are placed in that way by a child who likes the design? What if some nails fall in a similar pattern? There are too many coincidences for the guards to keep the peace and so they just don't. Neighbors keep a watchful eye out, and some cities have banned the usage of three nails in any arrangement in signs and names of establishments. Most people are not even aware of the three nails' meaning, which makes their eventual pain by them even more delicious.   The three nails represent the three layers of his worship. First is the above world, second the underworld, and third the lowest world where the darkness and seclusion is rank with his presence. A simple brush of wind in the deep places of the world mean Torog is near, he is near. They also signify the three members needed in order for Torog to survive: Torog, the follower, and the innocent. Torog pleasures himself in pain and the pain of other, and requires his followers the same. Showing three nails in that arrangement invites a relationship, and signifies that "Torog is with us."
