Agate Cay

"Millions of shimmering, shattered stones cover the surface of the isle, mimicking the glittering surface of the Great Sea. Though most Chaelens know the legends of Agate Cay, few have visited... and fewer have returned from its gem-encrusted shores."   -Nicolás Severnia, Rex Arcan of the Eastern Kingdom of Chaelwyth
Agate Cay is a large, uninhabited island directly south of the Eastern Kingdom of Chaelwyth. It marks the southern boundary of the Blasphemed Straits, an extremely dangerous passage within the Uthilith Great Sea.   The Cay is the second largest landmass with a documented population of zero humanoids (the first is the Forgotten Continent, though many sociologists have called this into question since the Academy of Ancient Studies began using those lands for graduate qualifying exams). Minimal research has been performed on the Cay, as the Eastern Kingdom rejects all funding proposals for individuals who wish to conduct fieldwork on these protected lands.   In the early 1000s, the Rex Arcan declared unsanctioned visits to Agate Cay a crime punishable by (at minimum) a century in prison. Since this law was put to pass, only a few Wizards have set out to explore the Cay - and few have returned.   The center of Agate Cay is known to hold Summerhelm, the largest temple to Notus in Uthilith. However, this temple is in ruins and incredibly dangerous to enter without the proper preparation and resources.

Geography

Agate Cay is a large, relatively flat island of equivalent size to the Brimstone Mountains off of the Northern Chaelen Coast. Rather than sand, the shores are made of crushed gemstone powder that transmutes into dust upon leaving the boundaries of the Cay.    Upon leaving the shores, the terrain shifts into rolling hills of shimmering long white grass. In daylight, the grass causes vision to blur and warp due to the sheer brightness of the sun's refraction.    As one moves towards the center of the Isle, a tall Blanched Oak forest begins to emerge enshrouded in a thick fog. Hidden somewhere within the depths of the forest is Summerhelm.
