Personal history

Nasir al-Hadad first entered the political arena of Ashad while serving as a vizier (advisor) of a malik (king) of Omrah. He even then attempted to gain friendship with the family of Grand Caliph Akbaru al-Toma, then the Emir of Ashad. When the Malik vanished from Omrah, a number of guilds run by wizards and merchants raised a Grand Caliph under their power to the throne in order to manipulate events to their own liking. In 377 PC, Nasir al-Hadad became Grand Caliph of Omrah when he manipulated a fight between members of the guilds. He immediately began to consolidate his power among the underworld of Omrah in order to gain complete control of the city in all aspects (a characteristic he continued to exhibit in Domilia). He used his increasing power to gain alliances with other groups within the underworld in order to strengthen both his own power among the high class of Ashad and stabilize the country from the ground up.   Shortly after gaining the ear of Grand Caliph Akbaru al-Toma, al-Hadad was made the Grand Caliph's spymaster during the events of the Jarusi Rebelion. His position in the Grand Caliph's court was second to none, which granted him access to many of the Grand Caliph's servants. He successfully manipulated the most favored of the Grand Caliph's servants, who fell in love with al-Hadad. In 378 PC, house servant Dina al-Ba adh Nasir murdered Grand Caliph Akbaru al-Toma, after Hadad promised to free and marry her. Al-Nasir denied all claims that he had coerced the servant into murder and had her immediately beheaded after a brief trial.   After Grand Caliph Akbaru al-Toma's death, his chosen heir Khayri al-Toma was called from Madad to take the throne. A welcoming party was assembled on the new Grand Caliph's flagship, the Merry Marid, though Nasir al-Hadad had other plans. He his personal retinue and body guards turn on the young prince, killing Grand Caliph Punjor al-Toma and everyone else aboard, ending the Toma Dynasty. Although, several rumors state that Toma's other children supposedly escaped and possibly survived the coup, these rumors have yet to be confirmed. al-Nasir immediately used his contacts and personal talents in twisting the truth to turn all evidence away from himself and towards a pair of men who had wronged him in the past. His gifts for manipulation and gaining the good will of the masses were readily evident, as he soon had all of Domilia believing him to be a good man wishing to see Ashad made powerful once again.   After the death of the royal family, loyalist uprisings began in Al-Shaladar and other major cities of the North. Al-Hadad, who by this time was a skilled military tactician, roused a massive army of warforged from the citiy of Omrah and began a campaign of conquest. His "Armada" first removed the nomad tribes from power in the region. He stopped at every settlement on the way to Al-Shaladar and slaughtered all Toma-loyalists and mages he could find. Because of these actions, Toma-loyalist control of the area was greatly diminished by 395 PC. After that, he sailed to Domilia and in the month of Mirthul took control of the city, which had been in a shambles after numerous failed coups and conflagrations in only two months. Finally, he marched on Mherton, and by Highharvestide, he had conquered the Ashadan capital and set himself up as the new Grand Caliph.   Without any political enemies willing to risk setting themselves against al-Hadad, he became Grand Caliph and ushered in a new age for Ashad. He set himself towards strengthening his control over Ashad, and rebuilding Domilia into a more organized and defensible city.   In the first year of his reign, Nasir al-Hadad began what would become known as the Mage Purges, a concerted effort to annihilate all users of arcane magic from his empire. Within two years, over 60,000 mages had been either executed or forced into exile. Every school of magic or arcane guildhouse was burned to the ground. More than 38,000 suspected wizards were slain, and over 44,000 people fled far to the north or east because of the purges.   During Nasir's regin, the region of the Sand Sea was in revolt. In 387 and 389 PC, a series of nomad uprisings against Hadad rule in that region led the Grand Caliph to send one of his most ruthless generals, Hakam el Sallah, along with seventeen regiments of warforged soldiers, to reestablish control. This devastating campaign was later called the Seventeen Scorchings, because seventeen al-badia tribes in the region, including the Antaliun and Qarabut, were put to the torch. Since then, al-Nasir tris desperately to regain the favor of the nobles but his reign was severely weakened and several of Ashad's other cities managed to regain a lot of independence.

Social

Social Aptitude

Nasir al-Hadad is a man known for his treacherousness and double-dealing. He has no sense of honor. Despite this, he is believed to be sincere, so great is his talent for public speaking, a gift he inherited from his great-grandfather. Nasir was also a genius of military strategy; however, he had no magical talents and was both fearful and jealous of arcane power
