Knights of the Road

Sphere: Criminal Knights of the Road were originally those who came to the defence of Ur during the Godswar but were not a part of the great Orders so did not get a seat at the table during reconstruction. None of those original knights remain, but they did get carve out a place for themselves in the city's underbelly, and the name has remained. Knights of the Road are the most capable members of Ur's underworld, acting as enforcers, running gangs, hiring themselves out as mercenaries for the Orders, High Masks and anyone else who can afford their services. There is not fixed skill set for a Knight of the Road, nor a specific way to become one; it is most accurate to say that it is earned by reputation. If someone can claim to be a Knight without ridicule, then they are a Knight. While the Knights spend most of their time competing with one another, an outside threat can bring moments of unity. In particular they collectively see The Nest as their domain, and enforce their own code of conduct within it, which brings them into constant conflict with The Dogma. It is not that there is no honour among thieves, but their idea of honour is different.

Code of the Road

You shall believe in the Code and observe its directions. Adhere to this Code, O Knights of the Road.

You shall defend the Nest from any who would do its people harm or try to reduce the demesne of the Knights.
You shall look after those under your protection, and shall consider yourself as their defender.
You shall conduct speech with courtesy and action with ruthlessness.
You shall remain faithful to your pledged word, unless the other first breaks their pledge.
You shall be, everywhere and always, a champion of the Nest and seek to bring unto it prosperity and influence.
